My desktop was working perfectly until yesterday when I suddenly realized there were unusual add-ins.

Upon checking, I found I lost my Norton360 again and that was in the evening.

I tried to sign into my Norton account & it did not response.

Then, I made a complain to Norton360 Support and switched off the computer.

This morning, I woke up early to sort it out with Norton Australia. I expect someone from Norton Australia to remotely control my computer to get it going.

But after switching on just now, I found my Norton360 icon again....all in working mode.

I really don't know what happened to my computer during the night.

Some interesting conversations going on in this thread about Windows, Apple and Google...!

Does anyone still remember Satya Nadella's phrase "Moblie first, Cloud first" and what it means?

It doesn't matter what devices you have - Windows phones/tablets/PCs/laptops, Apple Macs/phones/watches/tablets, Android phones/tablets/chromebooks/watches etc. It is the experiences you have using them and complemented by a cloud services ecosystem.

Mr Nadella is trying to have end users experience Windows'experiences (exposing to MS Office, Skype, OneDrive storage, outlook.com mail etc) on their multiplatform devices. On your iphone/Macbook, do you have MS Offices products, OneDrive, Skype, Outlook mail and in your house do you have Xboxes? On your Android devices do you have the same? In your office do you have them?

Moreover, MS is moving towards the subscriptions business model rather than one-off OEM licensing in devices and bundled with Windows...smart move I should say..

Watch out for Apple's latest product launch and see what productivity stuff you can do with it. Then try to figure out how Microsoft fit in...should be interesting. The ipad pro is rumoured to have a stylus...that's an interesting productivity tool I have to admit...

    Cheers!

I thought its more of a case of Windows vs Apple or PC vs Mac.
The crux is whichever you think suit your purpose or intent..buy the one you wish to use indefinitely and with full satisfaction.
For me, I'll stick with Windows and not migrate to anything else. My buddy (knowing my passion for music streaming or whatever) insisted I should look to Mac mini for music streaming purposes..as in his opinion, its the perfect solution (all things considered, price, value, practice).

Hahahaha, I restarted my old desktop today which I had abandoned since Sept 2015 because of viruses & multiple add-ons and found it is working again.

    I do not know why.

Maybe Microsoft has fix all the teething problems.

Mine have been stable from Day 1...never any issues..straight install, timely automatic updates applied, use till today, works fine. Just that I know how to clean out rubbish files every now and then to reduce clutter.
And my PC is quite old by current specs. Core 2 cpu only.

I know Microsoft is aware of such problems because she monitors our system & they are thousands of people with the same problems as mine.

p/s......there is no problem with my very very old laptop.

I don't think Microsoft monitor anyone's system directly. Its a blatant infringement of privacy if it does. The only intervention is the periodical updates. They also rely on feedback, reports and various forums, then work to address issues. If you happen to turn it off, then your pc is as good as you look after it. There's millions of standalone workstations and not connected to internet. How can MS monitor such rigs?..they can't.

I've not upgrade to Window 10. Is it advisable to do so? What's the benefits? Is there any down side? Appreciate your input. Thanks!
