Actually recorder is a very simple musical instrument to produce nice music. Instead of just blowing air in, the correct method is to say tu tu tu and that will convert to nice tune. Hope u understand what i mean......

Speechless, ... Std 1 only,... it's disturbing, feel like look for the mother and do some counseling ... feel like telling her, pls do cherish her daughter, she is doing very good already whether no 1 or no 2 or 3 .... Don't add such nonsense pressure to her. Let the learning be fun for her.
Well, the children know what they want, or what their parents want. They are moving to their goal. This is the bright side of the story.......better than my kid, hahaha. But he is improving. At least he tries to finish all questions. The blank page is reducing.

He prefers badminton ... but forced to take up music ... so just simply BLOW just to pass exam - zero interest !!

He asked how come no exams in sports ? Told him that LH is actually a "girl's" school .... school flag is PINK colour, 99% of teachers are girls, ... 75% of prefects are girls, ... library stock mostly girlish-type books, ... nearly all top students are girls ... students are not allowed to run here and there ... PE classes are always the first to be cancelled as girls don't like to be hot, dirty and sweaty ... you should see his face and reaction !!!!

    hahahahaa ....

May be I am not in the right position to teach anyone, but still, I want to say:

    1. threaten to use punishment like slapping - wah lau
    2. and set the target to only 1st place - wah lau
    3. and the kid thought she needs to get 1st place by asking people to give chance, and not study harder - wah lau

    speechless

You are a good soul... There are different people with different approach and emphasis on children's education. I afraid your counseling would be perceived as negative criticism.

However, there are parents who adopt positive learning approach and do not think class position is the ultimate measure. I know a parent who helped his boy to deliver in class position because this was what the boy wanted to do.

Apparently, this boy was always the top 5 in Std 1 and Std 2 but could not get No.1 and 2 in the class. The boy told the father that position of No. 1 and 2 were always "monopolized" by the children of teachers.

This is what the father told the son - " Look at it the other way, if there is really an unfair advantage that these two students enjoyed as children of teachers in the same school, don't you think the victory is sweeter when you can defeat them..! If No.1 and 2 in class is something you want to achieve, I will help you but I have to tell you I am not interested to pursue this as I don't want you to spend your precious time just to do this... !.

The father gathered info about the No.1 & No.2 students (the teachers' children) in the class and analyzed their performance in each individual subjects over the past 8 exams (4 exams in each Std 1 and Std 2). He did analysis on how they achieved the extra-ordinary results especially in (1/1), (2/1) and (1/2) exams during Std 1.

He reached a conclusion that their exceptional results in the beginning part were mainly due to their pre-preparation before the school start. In other words, their teacher parents prepared them earlier with the syllabus of what is going to be taught in the school(during year end long holidays) before the class commenced. He knew and he believed that due to the increasing depth and the increasing volume of Chinese and BM subjects in Std 3 onwards, this advantage would be reduced as the game now is more skewed towards a level playing field.

He prepared his son on critical subjects (Chinese, Maths and BM) with more revisions to ensure his son has an edge in these subjects. His strategy is to score in difficult subjects that others are not doing well and build an advantage in aggregate marks while maintaining a good score in other "easier" subjects like English and science. His son aced in these critical subjects especially Chinese and he was two times No.1 in class (one in Std 3 and Std 4 respectively) and three times No. 2 (twice in Std 3 and once in Std 4).

He has left the school long time ago as the parents believe this school is nothing but a UPSR mill.

Moral of the story is :

There are parents who don't know and don't really understand about their children strength and interests and therefore set unrealistic expectations.

In order to know and understand the true potential of their children(or the lack of it), parents need to spend enormous amount of time with them in the schooling process.

Setting target is easy, the challenge is - Do parents have sufficient time and possess the necessary skills/intelligence to be a part of the delivery process instead of just single-handedly imposing the expectation onto their children.. ?

Std 1 Math/Science: If your child is weak at those 3D shapes topics, e.g. pyramid, sphere, how many face, corner etc, the 每月备考练习 magazine September version covers this topic. Nice for revision.

It's definitely a girl's school! look at the non-girl teachers...
the only thing "man" about this school is the fierce, tall and dark guard at the main entrance! ......... I think the guard is a she too........

P/S: there may be some real man teachers in the school, but sorry, so far i haven't seen one .. oh there are few Malay man teachers, they look pretty masculine...

Aiseyman !!! I was only joking and teasing my son ... Don't drag the teachers into the joke, they are hyper-sensitive souls without any sense of humour !!! Sikit-sikit boycott ... afterwards, the whole school close down !! ... next two weeks are exam weeks ... "close down" also means more time for revision ... hmmmmm ....
