BEACON NIGHT TO SAVE LIVES

Raising fund for a worthy cause.
Posted on 04.54pm Mar 25, 2017

Beacon Night to save lives. BEACON NIGHT

Two years ago, a teenager lost his life when he was knocked down by a motorcycle along busy Persiaran Tujuan near USJ 11. The call for help for an ambulance came too late to help save his life.

One year ago, a 93-year-old grandmother succumbed to her injuries after she slipped and fell on the pedestrian bridge between SS19 and USJ3. The wait for the ambulance to rush her to a hospital was too long. Residents helped keep her conscious and comfortable while waiting for the ambulance. Her son rushed to the scene and finally drove her to the nearby hospital.

These are some of the scenarios we have come across in times of emergency. Subang Jaya’s notorious traffic congestion especially during peak hours has made it very difficult for emergency services to arrive promptly to save lives.
On a normal day, an ambulance from University Hospital would take 20mins to arrive at the scene while an ambulance from Serdang Hospital would take 30mins. Imagine the agonising wait for an ambulance during peak hours when your loved one is in dire need of help.

SJ Beacon (Persatuan Bantuan Kecemasan dan Bomba Komuniti Subang Jaya), a locally established NGO in Subang Jaya has been working round-the-clock to initiate a Community Ambulance service to complement the existing ambulance services provided by both government hospitals.
We have successfully obtained a ready-to-run ambulance through the generous sponsorship of a donor who will be announced soon. Now that we have the vehicle, we need the resources to equip it and manpower to run it.
Much work and resources are needed to equip the ambulance to provide at the very least basic first-aid for those in need. Life-saving equipment is needed for the ambulance. We are also in need of resources (funds) to engage trained medical personnel to man the ambulance on shifts to provide the best service we can provide.

BEACON NIGHT is the opportunity for Subang Jaya residents to help us establish our very first-of-its-kind community ambulance service to help save lives. Through the generous support of corporations and individuals, we are confident that we will be able to make a difference in responding to neighbourhood emergencies.

Get your family and friends involved. Come pick up a table to enjoy an evening with the community at BEACON NIGHT on May 19 2017 (Friday) and do your bit to help us help others. Community support is important for us to start making a difference in responding to medical emergencies.

Take your pick from our different table sponsorship – Platinum (RM10,000 per table for 10 pax); Gold (RM5,000 per table for 10 pax) and Silver (RM1,000 per table for 10 pax).

BEACON NIGHT – By the Community; For the Community.
