E-Community… and its story

SALUTE SJ RESIDENTS !!

They sacrificed their time for the sanctity of the ballot box.
Posted on 10.12pm May 06, 2013

Residents on watch Some eager voters gathered at the USJ 8 schools as early as 6am to get an early start to vote at these centres. By 8am, there was already a long line outside both the schools and the queue meandered along the roadside up to the traffic light junction at Persiaran Mulia. Some were seen to carry water and also their own foldable stools. But everyone seem to be in very upbeat mood and the crowd was all very orderly. Plus point number 1.

In the long line, people in the queue were seen to help direct the seniors and those in wheelchairs to the correct line. Most were friendly and helpful. Plus point number 2.

As the day grew warmer towards noon, helpers in plain clothes from a political party was spotted distributing water to voters who were thirsty. Plus point number 3.

As the voters had come early, the crowd began to dissipate after lunch. However, many residents who were eager to see that there were no sudden arrivals of unwelcomed voters, stayed on and "jaga pintu". Most were not party members but just mere residents who wanted to see a fair and clean election come to a satisfactory conclusion. In fact, many stayed on until the counting got under way. Another Plus point.

Meanwhile, at around 3 pm, an sms came in that some hantus were on their way to Chee Wen School in a bus. A few of the residents left the USJ 8 post and rushed over to Chee Wen School. In fact, within about half an hour, many more residents arrive like a cavalry charge. Residents from all walks of life, rush over even though it was raining. Many with umbrellas, some just with a cap on, came over and hung around the entrance to Chee Wen to ensure that no more hantus were going to "invade" this voting centre. The atmosphere was electrifying. When the crowd here grew to about 3 or 400, some of the residents left Chee Wen and went back to their self designated stations. Resident PC Yeoh went to USJ 13 and I believe bruder Orchi re-posted himself. Some of those who rushed over, came from Puchong! When asked what about their Puchong centre, they said they had enough "jagas" there. This writer finally went back to USJ 8. The residents of SJ were fantastic..!!

Meanwhile, the "volunteers" at USJ 8 stayed on until the gate of the schools were locked at 5pm, but most stayed on till the vote counting started. And some continued to jaga pintu when this writer left about 7.30pm for dinner after a very long, tiring and exciting day.

To the residents of Subang Jaya, you were absolutely fantastic. It was a big sacrifice for a common cause and a united hope for this country. I salute you !!
