SUBANG JAYA: The Subang - Bandar Sunway stretch of the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) is partially open to traffic from 12.00 noon, June 26.

Subang Member of Parliment Tan Sri K.S. Nijhar confirmed a report in www.USJ.com.my which first broke the news on Sunday.

Nijhar and senior officials of expressway concessionnaire, Road Builders were seen making the final site inspection yesterday. They were accompanied by community leaders, including Bandar Sunway Resident Association chairman, Goh Hai Thun.

The new traffic management will divert some of the traffic along Jalan Subang Utama to the partially completed NPE.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Vehicles from the Jengka roundabout heading towards Kuala Lumpur, Puchong and Bandar Sunway may now use the new overpass at Jalan Kewajipan roundabout.

Motorists travelling towards Jalan Kewajipan, Jalan SS12/3 and Jalan SS12/2 can use the access road next to the new overpass.

Vehicles heading towards Kuala Lumpur may also return to Jalan SS13/3, Jalan SS13/1, USJ, Jalan SS14/14 and Subang Jaya via the U-turn at Jalan Lagun Barat.

Motorists travelling towards Kuala Lumpur may return to Jalan PJS11/7, Jalan PJS 11/11, Sunway Lagoon Resort and Subang Jaya by taking the U-turn at Jalan Lagun Utara.

Road users are advised to follow instructions which have been placed on road signs along the expressway.

Road Builders has also set up a toll free line to handle enquiries, 1-800-8888-96.

Nijhar told the usjXpress Team that, with the partial opening of the NPE, he expected a smoother flow of traffic especially at the Kewajipan roundabout.

However, as the underpass at the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) junction would take another 16 months to complete, motorists using the route to access the Federal Highway are advised to put up with traffic backflow especially during peak hours.

The usjXpress Team was informed that traffic policemen would be stationed at the LDP junction between Pusat Bandar Sunway and Mentari Business Park during morning and evening peak hours.

FAST TRACK

Since taking over the project on May 4, Road Builder (M) Holdings Berhad has resumed construction works feverishly.

Earlier, Road Builder's spokesman Yong Juen Wah told usjXpress Team that the company targetted to complete the 3.2km stretch from Subang Jaya to Bandar Sunway in eight months.

"Our priority is to complete the stretch from the Jengka roundabout to the KL-bound PJS6 area near Taman Desaria," he said at a special briefing for Subang Jaya and Bandar Sunway residents arranged by Subang MP, Tan Sri K.S. Nijhar, May 9.

With the partial opening of the NPE on Tuesday, Raod Builders would have taken 6 weeks to complete a critical portion of the expressway that has burdened motorists in the last three years.

Earlier, Road Builder told the usjXpress Team that the entire expressway, costing RM505 million, will be opened by stages until it is fully completed in 2-and-a-half years' time.

By then, overpass at the Jengka and Kewajipan would be turned into traffic interchanges.

On May 4, Road Builder (M) Holdings Bhd announced it has acquired New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd from Berjaya Land Bhd and Dasara Berkat Sdn Bhd for RM210 million cash.
