Wireless router

Can anyone recommend a reliable wireless router WITHOUT modem ? I can't seem to find one because most of them has got modem in it.

Very rare to find a router without a modem feature built-in... have you checked out Digital Mall in Section 14 PJ??

If you can't find one there; more likely it doesn't exist in Malaysian market yet!!

There are couple of brands that carries wireless router. Check out lowyat.net

The brand that I know are Belkin (lifetime warranty) and SMC. Both are good.

Look these products:

1. http://www.linksysbycisco.com/APAC/en/products/Routers (WRT120N should be good enough for home)

or

2. http://www.dlink.com.my/products/pr...3&type=consumer

I have both Dlink DIR655 and Cisco WRT120N at home. One of them as a backup should one kaput when lightning strikes!

Go to Digital Mall at Section 14 PJ. There are loads of Wireless routers there on sale.

Bought a Belkin wireless router from Digital Mall (top floor), Section 14 for about RM90. No external aerial. Works fine.

Now using a Level 1 Router (WBR 3408). It's without the Modem built in. Have not been out shopping for Routers for sometime as most last a few years before they die. This I found only happens with electrical spikes during a thunder storm.

use a Belkin power surge protector which is in the form of a 4 socket gang extension..spikes during thunderstorms will be a thing of the past...

Hmmm, I might be wrong, since its been awhile since I used Mac, but if I'm not mistaken, any wireless router would be able to configure with Mac?

Why dont ask the reseller, if its possible, or just bring your notebook together and test it before purchase.

There are various brands for wireless router.... with and without built-in modem and G or N band...
For home use G band is more than enuf (54mbps)
N band is 2 times faster but also almost 2x the price (few months back, not sure about the price now)

U can also configure the wireless router as Wireless Access Point for an existing wired LAN... So that wirelessly connected computer can access the wired network... But to do this, better to set high security and restrict access only to listed devices.

FYI, I'm using Netgear in the office and at home a Dlink... Dlink is more reputable but Netgear never gave problem also..
