YB Hannah Yeoh was almost attacked at USJ11/1 on 14/04/2009 at 9.20am

Dear Residents

I received a telephone call at around 9.30am from a traumatized YB Hannah Yeoh who related to me an incident that happened to her just a few minutes earlier.

She was driving alone around USJ11/1 this morning, as she was slowing down at a road hump, out of nowhere came a motorcyclist right next to her car window. He was in the process of taking out a weapon from under his shirt (probably to smash the windows). YB Hannah was shocked and the only thing she thought of doing was to sound her car horn continuously. This probably scared the criminal who promptly rode off.

Within seconds of this happening to herself, she called Tuan Loi of Balai Polis USJ and she called me to send out an SJ Alert to inform residents of the danger at such road humps and for residents to be alert of suspicious motorcyclist following behind their cars in quiet areas in USJ.

As with most of us, in her stunned state she did not notice the Number plates, helmet, dressing etc.. of the motorcyclist.

I must take my hat off to YB Hannah, traumatised, stunned and what have you and still thinking of the residents. To say she is too good would be an under-statement.

That's why I say, at times of crime, perhaps, residents must be allowed to also defend themselves

Although I felt sorry for her , it is good that she experience the state of security in USJ /Subang jaya. Many immigrants have gain entry in to our country whether legal or illegal means. To them it is full harvest for them to pick as our security is at the lowest ebb. Our police officers does not deter them and this is a serious problem. I hope that she can use her good office to make her constituency safer. Remember robbers do not reconise or respect their victims.

in my 'over-imaginative, conspiracy laced' mind... I just hope that the incident wasn't a politically linked/motivated attack on her personal safety...

God only knows, sometimes things like this are cleverly disguised as a random criminal act... and we'll all be none the wiser...

Hope she takes care of herself and be more alert of her surroundings...

It shows why people have gated communities in USJ. In USJ 6 we used to get purse snatching done in broad daylight and in front of our house. Two girls were kidnapped and raped in USJ 6 also. I hope Hannah can get the USJ police force to increase their frequency of patrolling our township.

Our social fabric is threatened and only with a social reform in all our dealings can we improve on our unity against crime and grime

You have been watching too much CSI lah... or maybe you should unsubscribe your Malaysiakini.com account? BUT then again, you just might be right, YB Hannah has been stepping on big toes raising various sensitive issues.

Oh... those road humps many of you feel have been good to slow down the traffic in your high-class neighborhood, it is the perfect 'tool' for these robbers because every car will slow down for these robbers.... and they will wait for you at those humps constructed in quiet places... like the one in front of the USJ12 school, quiet area at night too... perfect setting, cars even slow down for you he he he

Especially in USJ 12 itself...my gosh!! I think the inner road in between TP and behind USJ12 school leading to USJ 13 school had at least 10 road humps.....should be placed in the Guiness Book Of Records! That's why when I send my son to Qdees USJ18, I would used the main road (infront of Arcadia Apts) and make a U-turn into USJ 16, 17 & 18 instead of taking the USJ 12 (supposed to be a shorter distance for me from TP area) what happened to YB Hannah today prompt me not to use the USJ12 road more as I may be 20 times more prone to getting attack by desperado robbers based on the 20 road humps I had to pass to and fro..... Am I correct at the number or may have even more !!

it goes to show that robbers on cubchai are not just of any particular race...Be aware of small cubchai trailing you...day or nite no matters!

If it was me, i would have swerved my vehicle, side swept that robber, moved forward and then reversed into him! Just to be sure!

Speaking of which, the road from (after) Sunway hospital leading towards the NPE/Sunway Pyramid side has a very high number of speedbumps. What is the purpose of putting speedbumps on a 3-lane road? Is it to create traffic jams every weekday so that we can waste money on fuel? As I see the problem is the majority [who just wants to go straight] has to endure the jams+wear and tear to the car suspension which coincidentally is not free or cheap just to enable a few office workers [mind you, not ambulances] to cross - when they could have just made a U-turn at the end of the road (at the crossroads there) where it is not jam to make a u-turn..normally there isnt even 10 cars doing a right turn from the opposite direction.

if the police do their job......we won't have this problem.....i guess we now have to carry a lightweight gun wherever we go.......very justified.

Be alert to your surroundings

More details about the attempted crime here:

http://www.sjecho.com.my/?page=article&id=820

Make sure you inform you family members to be extra alert of their surroundings even when they are home. If they find a motorcyclist or a motorist stopping their vehicle, "even to have a smoke", call the Police to check them out.

Let's send a strong message to these criminals that Subang Jaya / USJ / Bandar Sunway and Putra Heights is not a safe place for them to operate.
