The Rat Race Part II - The System

In Part I of The Rat Race (http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/uplo...ead.php?t=22431), we discussed why we were not doing well. (We can also read it here: http://malaysia-today.net/2008/content/view/3044/1/ ).

In this part, we examine The System of the Rat Race.

What is the Rat Race?

Before I started in 1973 as a fresh engineer, all I wanted was to work and be independent. I was tired of depending on others for my survival and I thought that a job was my passport to wealth. Being young and foolish, I dreamed that by 28, I would drive a Mercedes and be a millionaire. All I had to do was to work hard..... Ah, the exuberance of youth.

28 came. I found that I was married, had my first child, was driving a 2nd-hand Toyota Corolla, put in a deposit for a house and …. zero in my bank account. So much for my fantasies. I found that I was really and truly stuck in the Rat Race.

Hmmm, wrong plan. Time to change direction.

Read on in the attachment.

py, the first thing that came into my mind, after reading your article, is shakespeare's "all the world's a stage" thingy.

my question is who's running/organising/controlling the rat race? the jews? USA? could this be answered in your last chapter?

KH, Good question.

Probable answers in Part IV - The Pyramid. Everything is shadowy but we have some strands here and there to lay our fingers on. The mass delusion has been conducted for thousands of years. So not easy to pierce the veil.

ah... that word - PYRAMID! heard it thousands of times, especially during the MLM talk...

some say we are in the world where there are pyramids everywhere... like the boss is at the apex, his managers (at the middle of the pyramid) and the clerical staff forming the base.

yes, but it'll be interesting to see the rats racing around the pyramid...

The whole world is on Rat Race .

If not, we may not communicate here via PCs and internet , and many of the good things in this planet would not happen.

It's ok if there is small bunch of human feel tired of Rat Race and decide to stop.

But a nation and this planet need more people to join Rat Race to bring us to high level in all area.

There are plenty of ways to race :
1. you can work as employee , workers or slaves to earn salary
2. you can sell nasi lemak at roadside
3. you can join pyramids or MLM business ,hoping to race at home ( work from home)
4. you can sing and dance, and wait for audiences to pay to see you perform
5. you can do all kind of scientific research in hoping to invent come out invention or product that can make you lots of money.
6. you can learn martial art , learn to shoot ( hoping to be sent to Iraq)
7. you can play badminton, football , hoping to win thomas cup or play football in EPL.
8. the list goes on....

So, don't stop the race, until your body cannot function.
if you stop to race, your brain will die faster

Good. More of you can stay in the Rat Race, while more of us can opt out, so that we can let our brains die faster.

i hope you don't influence the young to stop Rat Race.

the reason you earned more in 1970 compare to a fresh graduate in 2008 is simply because we ( many Malaysian, not all) has been losing in this race. Obviously we lost to many Singaporeans (not all).

If a book Publisher call you today to pay you some money to write more stories for a Rat Race book. I am sure you will take it. And you will be in Rat race again, against other writters.

What you do is no different than some art, music talented young people who spend time to sing, dance, paint and etc , and then publish their art on youtube, ( you publish in usj.com.my)

They are waiting an opportunity to be discovered and to be paid to do those things. Same to you.

Such perceptiveness. Wonderful.

Unfortunately, my brain has died many moons ago.

NO ! you brain hasn't died.
You are still very actively thinking and you are still in this Rat Race.

You are a good example to Malaysian. Eventhough you may have no physical energy or no monetary capital ( just assumption), you are still in Rat Race with the strength you left - writing .

Good job.

I hope your part 3 can give more motivation to those who are still very active and optimistic in Rat Race.

Part III is a bit big and unwieldy. So I have split it into 2 parts, Part IIIA and Part IIIB.

But don't put too much hope on it. You shouldn't expect too much from brain-dead zombies.

Please write something nice to motivate the Malaysian Rat Racers .

you mentioned about UMNO.
i don't think most of us will disagree if i say UMNO's policies has made many Malaysian (not all) losing Rat Race to Singaporean, Korean and even some China Chinese. Example: NEP made many Malaysian lazy, low quality universities and schools make our young people less competitive and etc...

The first 5 articles are generic in nature. I may have mentioned UMNO in passing, just to help the reader connect with the ideas presented. But mostly, it relates to the global condition.

I will only discuss Malaysia in the 6th article. There I will have to tread carefully, being mindful of KW's bananas.

Ye old brain-dead, would-be multi-millionaire author
(Sorry 555. Couldn't resist that.)
