Ttdi Jaya Floods - Lies, More Lies And More Blatant Lies!

Despite certain people's black hand at work and spin in the Star Metro's spin on January 27th that it will never flood in TTDI JAYA - it did flood a second time within a month!

So the millions claimed to have been spent for remedial work and what the 'powers that be' thought was the solution was certainly no solution as if it had rained just another 45 minutes - 99% of homes in TTDI JAYA would have been under water!

But what caught my eye was another blatant attempt at spining 'false news' this time by a novice in the form of MBSA's PR officer Shahrin Ahmad .

In a bernama statement he is reported to have stated among others:

1. water began to rise at 10am following the downpour and light showers until 12pm. ( Note he claims -"light showers?")

2. that ' the housing estate is not flooded and the situation is normal'

3. 'water level at Damansara River was also normal.'

If everything was so normal then why was most of our homes under water yesterday!

If everything was normal why were over 500 cars parked on higher ground at TTDI JAYA?

If the Sungei Damansara and SUNGEI KUNING both criss crosses TTDI JAYA was not over flowing why was the NKVE, Federal Highway at Shah Alam (batu Tiga) to Klang closed off to traffic?

Why then were the three useless water pumps that are left at this housing estate unable to cope with the water that was coming into our homes?

I have been monitoring this fellas press statements and residents and I are really upset!

I am speaking to his boss at MBSA, one Pn Hasmah today!

And yes - CASSA has responded to this as well in a press statement which reads as follows:

'CASSA SLAMS MBSA FOR MISLEADING STATEMENT ON FLOOD SITUATION!

The Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam Selangor (CASSA) Selangor, today slammed the statement of Shah Alam City Hall for claiming in a Bernama report that the TTDI Jaya ‘housing estate was not flooded and the situation was normal and that the Sungei Damansara was normal!’
MBSA’s statement is misleading, totally irresponsible, mischievous and slanted and cannot be allowed to stand.

The fact was both the Sungei Kuning and Sungei Damasara that cuts through the Taman TTDI Jaya had overflowed.

This resulted in several homes damaged by flood waters.

Worst still roads leading into the said housing estate which includes portions of the NKVE and the Federal Highway at Batu Tiga were also under more than 8 inches of flood waters causing huge jams.

CASSA investigations on the ground found the water levels of both rivers at alarming heights that set the sirens off on numerous occasions and the available pumps placed at two points nor the claims of ongoing remedial work inadequate to deal with the deplorable situation as floods waters were simply too much to bear.

Only proactive and quick thinking by residents saved most of their vehicles which were moved to higher ground.

Questions are now raised if the two bridges leading into the housing estate are damaged as cracks were seen appearing on it!

CASSA appeals to the federal government to set up an independent select committee to evaluate and audit present claims of remedial work and propose a comprehensive solution that would safeguard the rights and interests of residents in this area.'

My take:

Yesterday several residents were speaking about taking legal action? But after the infamous 'Highland Towers' what civil action?

After another infamous 'UEM Case' - what public interest litigation is there in Malaysia 'di mana ade macam macam' dan 'semua nya ok?'

better prepared?
Actually no, no one is by an standards.
- everytime it rains we go through hell!
As I pointed out to Brother PC Yeoh and several others from the forum group and as far away as Kuantan and Penang last night who called to check on me and the family!
Like I stated to TV3 and NTV7 yesterday afternoon - after 3 Memorandums to the highest office in the land and countless press statements - I have lost fate in the system!
If I could, I will move elsewhere at the earliest opportunity as I cannot take this stress and anxiety any longer!
Worst still, I am told by well wishers that I have been tagged a "s*** stirer" by the 'powers that be' and their 'machais', which includes, certain past residents who have since sold their interest/or selling and moving away.
Yes for standing up to their spins, lies, misrepresentation, financial wastage and all things inproper!"
When we speak up for our rights and expose their failings and stupidity we are the mischief makers!
That so Malaysia boleh - So far only the contractors and their political benefactors are smiling!

If those people cannot hear your cries for help, I suggest the residents of TTDI speak louder through the BALLOT BOX soon!

a by-election here would be very interesting with the 'anger factor' but at the same time based on 'hari ini dalam sejarah' a by-election here would attract billions of $$$ and VVIPs from Perlis to Johor for addressing the floods!
Remember - Taman Sri Muda?

who is your MP or state assemblyman?
i know it is a very very bad thing to wish upon a person and i know it is a very very bad thing to say but unless you are going to have a by-election in your area, nothing will be done. just think about it, imagine the entire jentera BN and all their budget and our tax payers money concentrated on your constituency for a few weeks....

Why not post some pictures

Dr. J

It's such a pity that this has to keep repeating itself.

I can imagine the stress and anxiety living where, whenever it rains you have to worry about how high the flood waters are going to be. Whether you family members are going to be safe. It is just ridiculous.

Why don't you post some pictures here, so that we can all see what is going on? It will also serve as a permanent record of what you are going through.

Ok chief, I will ask Saudara PC Yeoh to help. There were many bloggers n students around yesterday and I will approach them for help.

The latest on the MBSA PR Officer's statment - well I managed to get his mobile number but he denies saying the above or even issuing a statement!

So bernama - who gave you the statement?

Strangely our so called 'people's paper' carries the photos of the floods on the flooded highway in its Metro section but conviniently avoids mentioning TTDI JAYA ( dah malu kut!) but strangely again quotes this same MBSA PR fella!

Now thats strange - the scripts seems similar to the bernama quote!

If he (MBSA PR Officer) thinks he got away he is wrong - dead wrong!

No one is going to play politics with our lives - period!

Watch this space!

This evening between 4.30pm and 7pm fears of another flood was there to scare all of TTDI JAYA!

And as expected -tomorrow a certain television station will give ‘ample exposure’ for a ‘rubbish politician’ to blame others for the state's incompetence in dealing with this flood situation!

The person all dressed in ‘work clothes and hat” with his boys from various agencies, which includes, the MBSA will speak and pretend to understand all things, when in actual fact, he does not, which includes, the female television presenter, who is ‘his machai!’ there to make him look good?

Who is this person?

Check out the television station news reports tomorrow!

See for yourself how certain politicians with the help of ‘media journalists’ 'spin away' at peoples’ expense thinking, we are all idiots!

Which television station? You can guess!

Just a little digression, Dr. ...
I used to travel to work from USJ to Damansara via the Subang-NKVE route some years ago, even before TTDI Jaya was built. I have always seen that area flooded as it is right next to the river that over-flows its banks whenever there was a heavy downpour. When I saw the housing area coming up, I was wondering if the developer was crazy as that area is flood-prone. I guess the buyers of the properties there had never been to that area before, otherwise why would they buy their houses at that spot? Dr George, you are not new to these parts, so I am wondering WHY did you decide to buy a house there?

Actually brother I am a Penangite and new to that area, Shah Alam (Batu Tiga) in the early 90's, when we decided to invest in a home there!

In fact, the area was quite secluded, lush with green with the old road towards the Airport, TUDM etc and yes before the "rape and plunder of several estates in the area!"

Like the over 3000 residents, we were attracted by the nice design, large house if not wrong, the 1st phase in which I live in is 26 by 90 and freehold .......in Shah Alam?

Yes brother, there were floods in the sense that the drains filled up or at worst 8 inches till late 90's before it all turned ugly with the present 4 to 5 feet with the development gone amok and with the highways and bridges nearby with their beams on the river-bed!

Now it is a nightmare!

Hey doc.... KWChang's right. I used to sell Petfood for a MNC (both for dogs, cats and horses... yes horsefeed too) and there was a big dog farm there known for its quality German Sheppard dogs and run by a Sikh breeder. At one time, the whole dog farm was covered in water overflowing from the nearby river and I lost a whole 20 footer container of horse feed I left there tumpang with the dog breeder.

Then one day they built these 30 ft x 100 ft terrace houses freehold, LOL.... somemore give free 2.5 HP airconditioners for house purchasers....

Err dear Dr. Jacob George...as mentioned last year when that dreadful massive flooding hit the same area...if Orchi's familiarity of that area isn't wrong...the area that TTDI Shah Alam was built over...was a floodwater catchment area(kawasan takongan air bah - built n maintained by the Drainage n Irrigation department or basically the state owned it)...which was probably why it was previously seen to be 'flooded' whenever there was heavy downpours...

Until eventually...what happened to it...is anyone's best guess...with limited resources of 'cheap' land then...the developer could have targeted the state land or parts of it...with the 'cooperation' of the state government...(if not mistaken under that Hassan guy's if not 'mike tyson' era).

Are you able to dig up the old state records...to see if there is any discrepancies or how that 'transfer' of land ownership was done...or was the development done in JV with the state government...n whether there is any foul plays in the approval process for that housing project to be built over the previously gazetted floodwater catchment area...?

Err...it would likely be finding a needle in a haystack so to speak...but something has got to be done to secure some evidence of screw-ups or cover-ups...or something like that...

Meantime...the residents have got to gather force to work together to bring the reality of the constant floodings thru a neutral mass media...to reach the right authorities(DOE/DID n OKT's ministry)...for immediate actions to be taken to rectify the obvious preventable causes to the serious floodings...

Has the Sun...been approached?

Oh btw...n whoever is coming from the state government...?

There was once the secretary of state...who later became the Shah Alam mayor for 1 year term or something like that...came to Subang Jaya during "MB meets the rakyat day...or hari mesra dengan rakyat"...to answer complaints from residents about mahogany trees along Persiaran Kewajipan being completely cut botak with wrongful pollarding methods...which he claims instead to be the correct method of pruning those matured mahogany trees...Orchi told him in his face to shove it...until the MB had to intervened!

So...should somebody similar like that shows up...you could do the same thing to him also...
