Indonesian Maid - Extention to 3rd Year

Hi, would like to check with the forummers who has experience on the above.

I intend to extend my Indonesian maid to her 3rd year in Malaysia. Unfortunately her passport is expiring in August 2007.

What should I do ?

I intend to do all this by myself. Going through the maid agency will cost me unnecessary 'additional' expenses.

Is the procedure the same as when I renewed her for 2nd year ie. going to Fomema, make $190 bank draft, send her for check up, pay the levy etc at the Immigration dept ..... But now, her passport will be expiring during the 3rd year.

Appreciate your advice Thanx a lot ..............

I had the same case before. You would need to renew her passport to cover her period of stay. The renewal can be done at the Indonesian embassy in Jalan Tun Razak @ RM25 for 3 years but be pepared to line up under the hot sun to gain entry into the embassy ground. After that you can proceed to Fomema to continue the task

We had this Indonesian maid for 9 yrs and terminated her service 2 yrs ago. We no longer want to hire a maid as our children have grown. Recently she rang and said she's in Klang. She ran away from her employer in Klang and is staying with an Indonesian couple. We intend to meet her this Sunday. How can we help her? Appreciate for some sound advice.

Last year, I managed to do the same thing easily. Was able to complete the whole process in < 90 minutes. Passport collection was 2-3 days later and took about 20 minutes or so.
However, latest news is that changes have been made and you must be prepared for lon..ng wait. A relative who did application last month mentioned the following:
- Numbers are given each day, with maximum of possibly 500
- Those whose number are high can expect to spend the rest of the day in the embassy
- The good news is that the embassy will remain open even into the night to complete processing applications for numbers given. My relative spent about 13 hours, from queueing time to completion
- Passport collection is 1 month later.

Question to consider :
The Indonesian embassy will be keeping your maid's passport during the 1 month. So can Fomema or their doctors conduct the medical examination without the passport. But if you delay, will it extend beyond the visa period.
You should speedily go Fomema to find out what you should do.

waaahhhh ... like this ah ??!!.

But what to do ? The maid agency is charging $400 for this .
The huge fee is for the 'hassle' which they have to go through.
Never mind la, I guess I should take one day annual leave & save the $400.

It is more prudent at times like this .....................
