A new balai?

The construction has just started but sorry to disappoint you, folks. It isn't for a new balai that we have been asking for! The land which we understand to be reserved for the future expansion of the existing mini-balai in USJ8 has instead being leased out to a private individual who has sub-leased it to Pack Connexion Sdn. Bhd., to be turned into a food court.

This food court will be called Subang Food Garden with 107 food stalls, e.g. 35 for halal food and 72 for non-halal food. Operating hours will be from 5pm to 3am or 7am to 3am, subject to confirmation.

What do you feel about this new development?

We have created a quick poll to solicit your response. Go to www.nwatch.net.my to cast your vote!

make more of these food courts as they will not stop until we stop eating out. so if you do not want food court near your housing garden, stop eating out, home cook food is better. BUT can we do that? It is difficult of course, so the food court is out of our control!

I just protested in one food court that the MPSJ has approved in UJS 16, in front of my good friend's house some more, 200 meter from my house!

We, Malaysians, do have short memories, don't we? What happened to the Aku Janji pledge by our YBs? Signed on 13 March 2004, just before the GE?http://www.nwatch.net.my/page.cfm?name=aku_janji

Is somebody in MPSJ promoting Food Courts in SJ/USJ? How come this is the third food court targeted to be built. And using land that has been allocated for the construction of the USJ 8 Balai Polis sounds even fishier.

After fighting for years, alas a piece of land is being allocated to build a Balai Polis to upgrade the current USJ 8 Pondok Polis to a Balai Polis. For many you may ask - what the heck is the difference? From what I was told, a Pondok Polis is not entitled to a patrol car. So if you see any Wira police patrol car cruising in USJ, they came from the Shah Alam Police District. What we have in USJ 8 Pondok polis is just a Kancil for administrative matter. The Kancil is not meant to chase the 160 kmph Satria getaway car. And another difference is only a Balai Polis has I/O (Investigative Officer) That is why if you make a police report and needs further action, you are requested to go to Shah Alam or SS 17 depending on where the crime happens. If you don't require further action (your report will have this initials "NFA" (No Futher Action) and you can go home and sleep. So it is imperative that USJ have a Balai Polis. Now somebody just gadai that piece of land away and what more to a Ali Baba. That means that the government is in no hurry to provide us with a Balai Police but instead intend to feed us with a Food Court. How nice and very touching indeed. So it looks like they feel that "Give us this day our daily bread" is more important than "Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from all evil" Since the horses have bolted, what shall we do? Bolt the door? No, I suggest we call a Press Conference to highlight our community need of a Balai Polis. In fact the ratio of police to resident is the highest in the country where USJ is concern. While the national average is 350:1, ours is 7,500:1. No wonder the crooks are working overtime here. The Peragut Mewah H/Q is also here. Since you notice how grave the situation is, contact your respective MP (YB. Loh Seng Kok for those in USJ 2-USJ 15 and what is his name for Ulu Subang Jaya (USJ 16 - 27 and to Putra Heights) to bring this matter up to Datuk Noh Omar, the Deputy Home Minister in charge of Security.

Personally, I dont mind having a food court in SJ, like the one at Taman Megah. But please lah....at the right place. Not in front of people's residence or sacrificing our urgent and pressing need for a police station.

Perhaps it's time we demo at that piece of land for press for a Police station. Sometimes it can be so unfair to everyone including the police personnel. Imagine the poor cops squeezed into that miserable pondok. And we expect them to be motivated enough to do good work! We shouldnt even be talking about motivation when the hygiene factor is not even attainable!! Sucks!!

Were we taken for a ride ?

That's was a good reminder to Penduduk-penduduk, especially SJ & USJ.

1. Our parents usually receive Report Cards from school at least thrice a year.

2. How many times does our MB receive his? Does the rakyat get to know their performance?

3. Why don't we submit a Report Card about our MP / ADUN to the MB and PM immediately ?

Perhaps, some kind soul could drop a note to MB Selangor now and ask progress report on :Traffic, Infrasructure, Security, Local Authority, Education and other outstanding matters as per "AKU JANJI" pledge duly signed before last GM.

MB Selangor is keen to hear from you at :-

Food Court inside MPSJ

I keep hearing about “FOOD COURTS” these last months.

Why? All of a sudden someone is concerned that we do not have enough places to eat in the USJ area or what?

Not everyone wants a food court near their house, no one wants a food court over a Balai Polis (well, maybe only the crooks). We can oppose the Food Court but we do need to have an alternative to please everyone.

I notice that MPSJ have been renovating their building the pass few months (building a car park if I am not mistaken). Maybe we should recommend that the food court be inside the MPSJ building, since the building and it’s parking facilities are not fully utilised during the evenings.

It will be a big hit with everyone. Not possible you say, maybe MPSJ should make a feasibility study.

Let's tell the YDP.

Robert, more food courts simply means easier to 'cari makan', no? Anyway, from what I learned, kelulusan belum ada lagi.

Raymond, please verify the information whether approval have been given. The construction work that you have mentioned may be the new Balai Polis. I don't know. Just to be safe, please confirm with MPSJ. Since this project has to do with the police, we will be threading on thin ice for any wrong move. If we should stage a demonstration on site, it will look like we are doing it in the lion's den. I am for the food court but not at the expense of losing the reserved land for a Balai Polis for USJ.

The place has been boarded up already and there is now a small banner stating that the Food Court will be opening soon.

If I am not mistaken they have also taken over the compound which the Police have used for vehicle storage.

At this rate it will be a wonder if we will ever get a proper Police Station in USJ.

More people should be made aware of this shameful situation.

This land, I understand, has been leased to a Datuk for a period of 5 + 5 years. Which means to say that if not stopped, we can forget about getting a proper balai polis for the next 10 years!

If our information is correct, the budget to build this new balai would be included in the next Rancangan Malaysia Ke-9, 2006 - 2010.

MPSJ, according to a source, has in principal, pre-approved the building of the food court subject to final approval of drawings.

And although the operator has started construction (without approved drawings), there is still time for us to act to preserve the land for the future expansion of the balai because the approval takes time - one month the fastest because other agencies like JBA, TNB and Bomba are also involved.

Our next course of action would be to call for a press conference or to organise a peaceful demostration at the construction site within the next week!

Are you with us?

Robert, the operator will be taking up 4 acres of the land, leaving 1 acre for the mini-balai and storage for court exhibits!
