Read interesting discussion all round.... join VPU..it is safe ...nobody is going to get hurt.. we are not confronting armed parang gang etc.. our OBJECTIVE.. deter crime from occuring only.. Please read...and be a volunteer for OUR safety...its only 2 hours a month.

Voluntary Patrol Unit (VPU)

The time to be a VPU volunteer is surely NOW. Why? Because Our…
1. Crime happen everyday in our midst, break-ins, snatch theft, robberies etc
2. Safety and security of our loved ones and ourselves are being threaten
3. Now everyone can Patrol. It’s only 2 hours
4. It’s safe to be a volunteer, objective is to deter crime by driving in patrol vehicle
5. Patrol vehicle is provided
6. Police officer inside vehicle jointly with volunteers
7. We even have lady volunteers

Why everyone can be a volunteer? Because…
We need only 2 hours of your time per month. We understand everyone is busy. Our volunteers are busy working people too. They work for bank. But they can patrol 2 hours per month.

How you can patrol 2 hours per month?
We patrol Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, 4 shifts per day, 9am-11am, 11-12.45pm, lunch 12,45pm-1.15pm, 1.15pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm.

Sample of our patrolling schedule
day / time 9-10am 10-11am 11-12 noon 12-12.45pm 1.15-2pm 2-3pm 3-4pm 4-5pm

Monday, 11 Jan BL BL ED ED MA MA S S

Tuesday, 12 Jan KL KL TCP TCP THB THB THB

Wednesday, 13 Jan JL JL MMC/NN MMC/NN S CKH CKH SM

Thursday,14 Jan EA EA TCP TCP TCP THB THB MMC

Friday, 15 Jan MMC/A Ang/V Ang/V Prayer Prayer Prayer/AJ AJ AJ

You knew which date and time is not so busy in the company that you are working for. Therefore you may inform your boss that every month on, say 2nd Tuesday of the month, 9am-11am or 3pm-5pm that you will be doing community work i.e. Voluntary Patrolling. I am sure you work very hard everyday. Your boss would understand you are doing good work for your community and would allow you to either report late or leave early on that particular day you have asked for to volunteer for patrolling.

All you need is to inform me which date and time you are free and able to patrol. I will schedule you in for that slot.

Where do we pick up/drop off our volunteers?
Pick up/drop off point is lobby of USJ 8 Police Station. If you are on schedule, please be 10 minutes early at the lobby of USJ 8 Police Station. MPSJ vehicle and driver would pick volunteer up on schedule time stipulated.

How do VPU patrol?
We, 2 volunteers together with one police officer and MPSJ driver patrol in vehicle. We drive slowly in residential area at random to deter crime. We DO NOT catch perpetrators. It’s police work to catch perpetrators. We give notice to resident if we find that their gate is not lock and advise them to be safe and kept their gates lock at all times. Be safe.

We give out flyers to inform residents of VPU initiative to reduce crime by deterring and hopefully improve our safety and security.

Be a volunteer NOW. Its only 2 hours. Contact Mak mcmak64@hotmail.com or sms 012 3836508.

There are about 3000 plus students studying in L/Hung... are you saying all 3000 x 2 parents are kiasu? How about yourself? Don't just talk, come out and do something.

Did any of SJ/USJ guys out there received flyers/notices from our volunteers? We have more volunteers now, 30 plus compared to when we started with 13. More would do us good. We can patrol a wider area hopefully and reduce crime further.

What say you?

Now everyone can Patrol. It's only 2 hours per month.

Dear all,

VPU will be at Summit, Sunday, 31 January, 2pm during SJ Alert Balik Kampung Rumah Selamat Campaign to promote VPU initiative.

We hope to meet with residents whom like to know how they too can be a part, by volunteering 2 hours ONLY per month to make Subang Jaya/USJ a safer place for all.

See you at Summit

Voluntary Patrol Unit (VPU)
Ladies and gentlemen, we have in our midst a Voluntary Patrol Unit initiated by residents of Subang Jaya/USJ to jointly patrol with police and MPSJ. VPU is in its 4 week of patrol.

Objective of VPU
VPU objective is to deter crime through joint patrol between residents, police and MPSJ in patrolling vehicle. (Not on foot)
VPU believed that by increasing the presence of patrolling cars in residential areas would deter crime slowly but surely.

Modus operandi of VPU
VPU patrol Monday - Friday. 9am - 5 pm. There are 4 shifts per day. Shift hours are 9-11 am, 11am-1pm, 1-3pm and 3-5pm.
Currently VPU Do Not patrol during weekends, public holidays or in the evenings. We plan to patrol during weekends, public holidays as well as evenings once we have more volunteers and the patrol vehicle to do so.

Now everyone can PATROL. It's only 2 hours. (repeat, very important)
VPU seek ALL residents of Subang Jaya and USJ to volunteer ONLY 2 hours of their busy working time PER MONTH to jointly patrol. We have busy bank staffs, retirees, senior citizens and lady as volunteers. Everyone can volunteer.

For those busy working people, we ask you to seek your boss permission to allow you to do COMMUNITY WORK 2 HOURS PER MONTH to patrol.

How to get your boss permission
You know which day and time your company is not so busy, seek your boss permission to allow your either to go in late, for example: 2nd Tuesday of every month, to patrol 9am-11am, and then go in to work. Or leave early, every 2nd Tuesday of the month, to patrol 3pm-5pm. That's how I get bank staffs to volunteer too.

So there is NO reason for you not able to patrol.

Please give 2 hours per month of your time to make Subang Jaya/USJ a SAFER place forr ALL.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mak mcmak64@hotmail.com or sms 012 383 6508

We also have the volunteers registration forms available at the registration desk.

"You must be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world" Mohandas Gandhi

Be the CHANGE now, volunteer 2 hours per month to patrol.

Thank you.

Lol... i agree! however im still confused, we can see that most of SJ and USj has turned into a gated community with guard petrolling every hour; and yet the crime rate is still at a high... so whats the point of having one anyways?

For GnG, crime rate has reduce tremendously. Some zero. Still there no such thing as guarantee as far as crime is concern. However, we need to increase the presence of patrolling cars to deter crimes further.

That's the objective of Voluntary Patrol Unit. To deter crime by patrolling. If ALL residents were to spare 2 hours ONLY per month, we can definitely increase patrolling a wider areas and more frequently. It would then, I believe deter crimes further.

I sincerely believe it is better to patrol in non GnG residential than not to patrol. I hope you too can join as volunteer to help towards a safer place for you and me. Your loved ones too.

Thank you.

I am really shocked by the fact that so many people in SJ and USJ didnt bother to lock their gates and also their car in the porch. We went rondaing for 2hrs and closed gates for other people, some 6-10 gates at least...betcha these bLur sotongs will also be the first to complain "where are the polis??" when they deservedly kena robbed by opportunistic baddies!

the VP is more than just an eye opening trip. I also make new friends with the volunteers, pdrm & mpsj officers as well as 1 confirmed recruit-volunteer from ss17 PLUS another ss17 bungalow owner said "I try to volunteer my 2 hr a month".OK, it does look like we will have 4 or maybe 5 volunteers. Not a bad catch for a first trawl.

Thanks to the Organiser esp. mr Mak, for this initiative.

Lets see if we can get more volunteers from our own backyard area and have the contagion effect gelled up to a bigger number of volunteers..then maybe a 24hr ronda can be charted out.

Yang Boleh ronda 2jam/bulan latotupai

p/s...if i can spent 6hrs a nite drinkin' and partying away, I sure as Geronimo can spend 2 hrs a month to patrol my own area...U how?

Bro tupai, please pass me the SS17 volunteers to me to schedule them for patrol. thank you for the good work. Trust definitely the contagious effect will work if you go to your own backyard to inform your neighbours of VPU initiative.

Keep it up.

Veejay, clarification. VPU do not simply put flyers into letter boxes without talking to the residents. VPU volunteers will talk to residents regarding its initiative and then give the flyer. Otherwise, most likely ends up as rubbish.

Currently, not patrolling evenings and weekends. Hopefully will do so soon whend we have the sponsored vehicle as well as more volunteers to do evenings and weekends.

For the record, statistics from police said VPU has been a success to deter day crime from happening. It has moved towards evenings, 6pm - 10pm. be careful during those hours.

Best regards
Mak
