Joint-patrol with mpsj+pdrm

i was just off the line with the organiser of this community driven exercise...
USJ area (even the GnG ones) is the flavor of the month for burglars/housebreakers during the 9am-6pm shift.

It befuddles me why the usj YES! USJ residents themselves are not volunteering a 2-hour/month to be in the joint patrol? The vehicle is from mpsj with a driver, there is a cop and volunteers as passengers.
They ronda ronda around; look out for suspicious characters, unlocked gates etcetc, all in the name of community safety...

BUT what does he get? a lackadaisical approach and a 'neber mind lah, some1 else will do the job to protect my property..."

I told the organiser, that while i can volunteer more than my share of 2hrs, I WILL NOT be wanting to freaking patrol any area outside of ss17 and ss19.

I dont give a flying banana about your area! I care only about my own area...U should care about your own and BY JOVE! we can have a contagion effect, where my selfish only-ss17&ss19-approach, can then be jigsawed together into a bigger cohesive effort, with each taking care of his own backyard! A simple strategy for educated & middle class idiots!...

Sedih tapi benar..

Hey Lato Tupai, there is one small plot of 12,000 sq ft empty land at the back of USJ5 facing USJ2... can ronda-ronda there once a while make sure no doggies go poo-poo there ah? Tupai allowed to poo-poo there but no doggie yah... buy you a Kilkenny soon!

p.s. just in case some may say I am boasting again, the land isn't mine. It belongs to a friend who's overseas and don't know when and what to build for a house. I help jaga only...

We can't even get them to come and take free books... looks like have to throw in free teh tarek and finger food and maybe...

I hate to say this but the profile of USJ residents are not the same as those pioneer group staying there in the early 1990s. This pioneer groups have all moved on (upgraded?) to Kota Kemuning and Bukit Jelutong and later to the G&G at Ara Damansara... so another groups came and replaced them. These 2 groups IMHO are very much a different profile of residents. I happened to see both groups as I lived there before from the early 1990s and only moved out recently and still come and stay at the Summit every alternate week.

1. they will always believe that sh!t will only happen to others
2. why should I pay or contribute my time or cash... wasn't my idea...
3. other STUPID fellas oredi contribute - I just enjoy la, the benefits la...

If u are so good... then you should consider to lead the forming of GnG... it seems like you don't accept other people's contribution. So, the best is you contribute to the society.

By the way, I hope you can correct what you have said "especially those whith children studying in L/Hung". I suppose you are referring to some and not all. There are about 3000 plus students studying in L/Hung... are you saying all 3000 x 2 parents are kiasu? How about yourself? Don't just talk, come out and do something.

Jan, I feel that your comment is unfair. Joint patrol & GnG are 2 different matters althoug both have similar aims. I personally do not participate in Joint patrol due to time constraint and 'lack of fighting skills'. Call me a coward but I do not have the balls to confront parang wielding desparados nor the luxury of seeing daylight in USJ (except during the week-ends).

On the other hand I do my best to help set in motion GnG in my community with the selfish aim for improving the safety of my neighbourhood.

The same reason way RT is not successful in urban neighbourhoods, residents do not have the time nor courage to form vigilante gangs but we do not mind contributing part of the fees to hire professionals. Have RT even been successful? Mayb in the 70s and early 80s where one can get a free leave from their employers after 2 hours of RT.

FYI USJ is terrorised by gangs armed with parangs and/or pistols not petty thief

There is already local RT in most USJ but due to the poor response to patrolling the neighbourhood, like Jan mentioned it is reduced to organising line dancing, annual BBQ and what not.

Ya, I'm afriad thats why I support hiring professionals to do the job and not a group of untrained uncles trying to take the law into their own hands BTW there are also legal implications should you injure the burglar, what about time constraint? Who will patrol the 'red eye'? (2am to 4 am)
