    Summit, USJ

    Hi ppl!

Me kinda grew up in Subang/ USJ and i am really fond of staying here, paticularly USJ, where i spent most of my growing up years in. Am really proud of it... my passion is for SJ/ USJ.

When mentioned Summit, USJ, most people will shun it and some may think it's a sore eye... esp. when some equates it with Sg. Wang of Selangor... What do you think?

What do you think are the improvements needed for this 7 yrs old mall? Heard that they are doing some refurbishments here and there, like upgrading the toilets... improving the lightings of the carpark.. which i personally think it's bringter. and of course... hehehe... Fajar moving out... also heard they may bring in Metrojaya... and Cold Storage.... I think it's kinda cool to have it there.. then i don't have to drive all the way to Sect. 14...

More al-fresco concepts at the outdoor carpark area? Like what they are doing with Pyramid? I think i would rate it as a family mall.. very community based compared to the other malls around.. with loads of charity events.... what say you? do you think they are lacking in children development centres? ummm... prob more children clothing... i think Parade did fairly well in promoting it as a family mall... I like the booths along the Lower floors... can get quite a good bargain...

So! What do you guys think of Summit?

    My 2sentences worth:
    1. Summit tenant mix is like Petaling Street; imitation products, el-cheapo china stuff, vcd stalls etc. If I want these stuff, I will head for the 'originals' at petaling street. Methink, the complex owner/mgmnt got their target audeince all wrong. This is Subang jaya where a high concentration of residents are in mid-class,read as higher disposable income group (not necessarily spendthrift, but that anuther story

Check out subang parade and see the crowd..not many shoppers and with the exception of the supermart, most of the tenants have been there for donkey years...whats that say?

    2. the ingress is wrongly placed. It is too cumbersome a place to go. But thats a planner issue

    Yang amat Bershopping lato tupai

I think they should be wiser in choosing the tenants. Maybe some brands and do without the stuffs you can get off pasar malam. Those kind things, you won't be buying in Subang Jaya.

I think the mall is badly designed too. There are some parts that are hidden unless you walk near there. I think the lowest floor is a bit too crowded as well. Sungei Wang is actually doing better. At least, they get the crowd there.

and I agree with tupai. The location is bad.

I like their DVD stalls too!

But don't like their pc software stalls. Charged RM8 for a piece when one can get them for RM5 in Sg Wang or Low Yat or even SS13's pasar malam!

In fact Summit has improved a lot in its retail offerings. When it was first opened, the choices of shops were very unappealing. Nowadays, I can spend my whole Sun noon loitering in Summit - shopping, browsing books in MPH or Popular, shopping, eating. Pity that Fajar is moving out coz I enjoy shopping at its supermarket. Lotsa good buy!

They need to upgrade their lifts. Poorly maintained and run down. Also the staircase needs to be cleaned up. Dirty and smelly.

Same here. I usually go to the cinema here. Parking is no hassle. Movies also much cheaper for me here during weekdays. 50% for senior citizens lah! And there is a very good food outlet just next to the cinema. The one closest is very good Malaysian outlet and very reasonable. Run by a family. We normally chat with Michael. The curry there is fresh and good. Sooo much cheaper than eating in Pyramid.

summit has definitely improved compare with 6 years back .. that's why their rental also start increasing ... regarding asking the management to be wiser in choosing tenant, i think they try to but i wonder whether they can achieve that without owning the shops. I dun mind the el-cheapo stuff, bcos if i want a branded stuff I know where should i shop.
Other improvement I would like to see there is a bigger MPH, or better still bring in Borders and also establish an IT corner like those in sg wang or pyramid .

Agree with Patrick that their lift need upgrade and staircase needs to be cleaned up.

toilet - really need to improve or make it free, subang parade's toilet is free, and it is A LOT cleaner than summit's.
escalaters and lifts - shaking my head, sometimes the lift can stop at certain level for no reason.
car park - RM1 flat rate perhaps?
tenants - I think it is getting better. Would like to see bigger MPH.
air-con - It's usually very cold at certain spot and very hot at another spot, there was once I almost pengsan in popular bookstore.

Correct me if I am wrong, Summit is different from Subang Parade. Summit has very little control over the tenants because they sold the lots not rented out like Subang Parade. Therefore if the DVD seller bought the lot they will sell DVDs there instead of selling Bonia shoes. Same thing goes to Berjaya Time Square, they sold lots instead of rented out, and it has also become a high-class Petaling Street. Check out the difference between higher-end and lower-end shopping malls, you will know which one's on rental which is not.

Not surprised. That neighbourhood giant seems to have gobbled up most of the supermarkets in the valley

    .
The parking is already at a flat rate of Rm1 for weekdays and Rm2 for weekends and hols. That is reasonable compared to Subang Parade and the stupid car park at Taipan, which is unreasonably expensive.
