    Pakistan/India/Afghanistan EarthQuake Fund

The Star (God bless The Star) just launched their Pakistan/India/Afghanistan Earthquake Fund. By now I believe everyone of us must have read abt this massive human toll tragedy. Let's do something abt it. Either you donate to this fund or some others which may be coming up soon I believe (Maybe usj.com.my fund?) :

    The Star - Nation
    Monday October 10, 2005

    Let’s show we care!

The Star is launching a fund to help the earthquake victims in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.

Announcing the donation drive, Star Publications (M) Bhd Group Managing Director Datuk Steven Tan said:

“We are saddened that another tragedy has occurred involving so much loss of lives and property.

“We sympathise with the victims and their families.”

Tan said The Star was starting this fund to add in a small way to the international relief efforts.

“Malaysians can be thankful for the many blessings they are enjoying in this country.

“We hope Malaysians can come forward once again to donate to this earthquake relief fund,” he added.

Donations can be made to The Star South Asia Quake Fund and sent to Star Publications (M) Bhd, Menara Star, 15, Jalan 16/11, Section 16, 46350 Petaling Jaya or its offices throughout the country.

I hope Chang doesn't mind if I mix a little bit of this thread with the other with a Song so as to encourage everybody to give & make this world a better place for you and for me ....

There's a place in Your heart
And I know that it is love
    And this place could
    Be much Brighter than tomorrow
    And if you really try
    You'll find there's no need
To cry In this place you'll feel
    There's no hurt or sorrow

There are ways To get there
If you care enough For the living
    Make a little space
    Make a better place...

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
    For you and for me
    And the entire human race
    There are people dying
If you care enough For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

If you want to know why
    There's a love that
    Cannot lie
    Love is strong
    It only cares of
    Joyful giving
    If we try
    We shall see
    In this bliss
    We cannot feel
    Fear or dread
    We stop existing and
    Start living

    Then it feels that always
    Love's enough for
    Us growing
    So make a better world
    Make a better world...

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
    For you and for me
    And the entire human race
    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    And the dream we were
    Conceived in
    Will reveal a joyful face
    And the world we
    Once believed in
    Will shine again in grace
    Then why do we keep
    Strangling life
    Wound this earth
    Crucify its soul
    Though it's plain to see
    This world is heavenly
    Be God's glow

    We could fly so high
    Let our spirits never die
    In my heart
    I feel you are all
    My brothers
    Create a world with
    No fear
    Together we cry
    Happy tears
    See the nations turn
    Their swords
    Into plowshares

    We could really get there
    If you cared enough
    For the living
    Make a little space
    To make a better place...

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
    For you and for me
    And the entire human race
    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
    For you and for me
    And the entire human race
    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    Heal the world
    Make it a better place
    For you and for me
    And the entire human race
    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    There are people dying
    If you care enough
    For the living
    Make a better place
    For you and for me

    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me
    You and for me

    Heal The World

Mother nature is becoming more more brutal, first its was tsunami, floods, cyclones huricanes ,landslides and now the devasting earthquake..Undisclosed information now say maybe 40000 ppl might have been perished and many thousands injured and some still buried in the debris and alive. Children seem to be most affected. Why this string of natural calamities. Is it end times or what?

Well Ski, this is what happens when Mother nature and its environment are disturbed or 'changes' made to it. Mankind and its actions are the catalyst for our own destruction. So, for every Mankind's action, there is an equal and opposite environmental/Mother nature reaction and this is where the 'string of calamities' are coming from. We plunder the earth by logging, mining, manmade developments and change the earth's landscape. Then we release pollutants to the environment by car emissions, factories industrial output and waste, open burning, nuclear experiments etc etc. How do you think Mother nature will take it? Well, she will let you hv a taste of its fury. And this is just the beginning of it. More to come if we, mankind, continue this blatant disregard to reap, rout and rape our Mother Earth.

US - 50 mil?? That is peanuts to them lah. But then again, they will also offer billions in 'reconstruction aid' contracts which will ultimately put Pakistan into their hands. Brilliant A&A strategy, another 3rd world country conquered. Erm, sorry to go offtrack here....

It's what Newton's 3rd law said - When there is an action, there would be a reaction " or in spiritual sense " You reaped what you sowed "

    Peter,

Do u hv the song 'Imagine' by John Lennon? Can u post it here? The lyrics of this song would make us understand our world a little better.

Instead of being an American, British, African, Germans, French, Malaysian etc etc, we should all LIVE AS ONE UNITED PEOPLE. Then only we may come to understand the magnitude of problems we hv brought onto ourselves, mankind.

    The following article appeared in The Star, P4 Nation;

    http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story...427&sec=nation

Christians and Buddhists reach out to help

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have proved once again that belonging to different faiths do not stop them from helping those in need.

The National Evangelical Christian Fellowship Malaysia (NECF) and the Buddhist-based Ti-Ratana Welfare Society have contributed RM100,000 and RM2,000, respectively, to help earthquake victims in Pakistan.

The contributions were made through The Star South Asia Quake Fund yesterday.

NECF secretary- general Rev Wong Kim Kong said NECF donated a minimum of RM100,000 to a non-Christian cause every year.

FROM THE HEART: NECF pastors presenting a mock cheque to Wong Chun Wai (second from right) and Talat (fifth from right) in Petaling Jaya.
Places that had received funds from the organisation, he said, included Turkey, Afghanistan, Palestine, Darfur and Aceh.

“We want to encourage Christians in the country to donate to charity. That’s our basic responsibility,” he said.

He also appealed to Malaysians to sacrifice things that they did not really need and to save the money to give to charity.

“This is a call from God to share what we have,” he said at the NECF office here after witnessing the presentation of a mock cheque by NECF pastors to Pakistan High Commissioner Major-Gen (Rtd) Talat Munir and The Star deputy group editor II Datuk Wong Chun Wai.

Earlier, Ti-Ratana adviser Rev K. Dhahmaratana handed over the society’s contribution at Menara Star here.

He said although the society had collected only a small amount, it hoped to help Pakistani children suffering in the aftermath of the disaster.

“We hope more people will come forward to help,” he added.

Talat said he was grateful for the contributions from the two different religious groups.

“Natural disasters take place irrespective of caste, nationality, race and religion.

“I’m deeply moved by Malaysians’ spontaneous response, and I am sure the money will be used for rehabilitation and reconstruction,” he said.

When a Muslim country cries out for help all countries are eager and willing to help out irrespective of any ethinic or religious differences. Even India its arch enemey has crossed its borders to render some help, but sad to note if it was to happen in an Western country some rich Muslim countries are reluctant to donate anything, they even go as far as saying they deserve Gods punishment for attacking Iraq...sad isn't.
When ppl are in dire circumstances help should be rendered irrespective of race and religion. We all belong to one race..the human race..Peace

    Dear SKi,
Understand ur frustration but don't b misled by newspaper. Dont forget they are commercial & sometimes politcal entity as well. They survived (adverts) on news and sometimes sensational news which might not reflect the majority. As de case in point, u mentioned abt retribution to the western world, I think (it's my personal opinion), the news ppl only reported minority and not the majority. Therefore it's not representative. I believe there are majority muslim nations which sympathized with the tragedies befallen the western countries as any other nations as well...
