The Tesco - USJ Link In Progress ???

On behalf of Puchong residents, a memorandum was submitted today (26/9/05) by Gerakan MP, Mr. Lau Yeng Peng to Ydp mpsj on a written request to build a bridge & a road to link puchong to usj.

The link will begin from Tesco Hypermarket in puchong to a road next to Chee Mun, a chinese primary school in usj 1.

MP Lau told the press that since this project has approved by the local authority, the subang jaya municipal council ( mpsj ) since 2 years ago (2003), now is the mature time to construct it. He further mention that only usj1 residents are objecting it not all the usj residents.

With this exit road, thus the puchong residents can easily access to usj areas & also to avoid both the kesas toll & Ldp toll (Puchong).

If residents in USJ1 and the surrounding areas support us to protest against the proposed flyover link from Batu Tiga to Persiaran Tujuan, I will send over the Bangla (that took the aerial picture of USJ3ABCD and Batu Tiga) and take a shot of your proposed bridge so that all USJ residents will know what kind of traffic will come into USJ.

Then all USJ residents will be objecting to it.

Who says only USJ 1 residents are objecting to this new link? Can I say that all SJ/USJ residents cannot tolerate new access roads being built for the wrong reason and we folks here have to tolerate this nonsense from morning till night. If this link is built for the Puchong residents to easily access USJ areas and at the same time avoid both the KESAS toll & LDP toll (Puchong), then I urge all residents here to strongly object to this link. We know right from the beginning that this highway is to serve these Puchong folks for the wrong reason. We heard of Aedes mosquitoes and here we have Aedes developers who are blood sucking and could not care less about people. What is wrong with the current arrangement? You want to save RM 2.00 (two ways) and yet want to give us hell? Mind you, we are not only talking about the traffic from Puchong. There are 6 housing estates with high density with thousands of apartments coming up next to this bridge. We also have traffic coming from Cyberjaya, Putrajaya and from other township such as Sri Kembangan, Bangi etc etc from the south. Did our politicians who many of us voted in the last election tell you that? Maybe they were busy promising those Puchong folks this dream project which will be our nightmares. Maybe to referesh some people's mind this is what was reported by The Star on 21 April 2004

Bridge, road more of a nuisance

    By SALINA KHALID

RESIDENTS in USJ1 are upset over a plan to build a bridge and a road that will link Puchong to USJ1. They are of the opinion that, though these will provide easy access for Puchong residents going to Subang Jaya, it will also cause traffic congestion.

“We have about 4,000 houses in the neighbourhood,’’ said USJ1 Residents Association president Kamarudin Rasol.

“Building the bridge and road will have with disastrous consequences by opening up a flood gate to motorists from Puchong,” he said.

On Sunday, about 50 USJ1 residents, along with Subang Jaya Residents Association representatives held a peaceful demonstration to protest the building of the new bridge.

Headed by Kamarudin, they gathered where the road was to be built – SRJK (C) Chee Wen. Also present was Kelana Jaya member of parliament Loh Seng Kok and Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng.

Kamarudin said the location was also inappropriate. “It will pose a danger to the schoolchildren,’’ he said, adding that the situation would be made worse when parents parked their cars by the roadside to pick up and drop off their children.

Kamarudin said 90% of the houses in USJ1 were occupied and currently more than 5,000 vehicles plied the area daily. “The figure will go up if the link is to be built,’’ he added.

Lee said the bridge and road were mentioned at a Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) meeting last year.

“It was decided that such a link will be good for Puchong residents who want to get to Subang Jaya,’’ he said.

The road will begin from Tesco hypermarket in Puchong to a road next to the school in USJ1.

The project will include building a bridge over the Klang River.

Besides providing a shorter route for residents in Puchong, it will also enable them to skip the Subang Jaya toll plaza.

If approved, the project will begin next year.

“MPSJ is still studying the matter, but as far as I am concerned, there will not be any bridge in the area,” said Lee, adding that some developers in USJ1 and Puchong had mentioned the link in their advertisements to boost sales.

“House buyers must be careful as the link has not got the council’s nod yet, he added.
