what's the waiting period for the altis?
I just bought one ALtis 1.8 (end of Oct'07). The car alignment is out even after realignment done at Toyota service center. The car engine rusty all over the place when 1st day saleman and I inspect my new Altis. I point the rusty ex. pipe to service center manager, he told me that this is normal for Toyota car, no point to change it as it will become rusty even he change the new one. He persure me by using the reason where the car is currently owned by finance company (but I pay for monthly inslament). I got to down my car for services and on leave for few days (no car to work).Toyota sales and outlet manager said they could not help me after calling them. The power windows is claimed/stuck and worst than my 10 yrs Wira (sold). The CD player can not play at hot weather (installed at upper dashboard or right be low front mirror which expose to sunshine) and suspected due to mechanism part expended under hot sun, So I only use my CD player at Morning and raining day. I took pictures and feedback to Toyota (KL). So far no reply from them. 2 weeks after using the car, I feel that engine start become noisy as compare to day 1. He he, what can I do, sell as second hand car again after own it for 2 weeks? I am cheated after seeing so many good comment in internet. I got to make 2 appointment to resolve one issue, first appointment is purely for inspection, confirm what is going wrong and for them to decide to order spare part. Service center do not keep spare part. 2nd appointment will be after spare part arrive, and fix it. He he, on leave 2 days to fix one issue again. now more and more issue pop out, I expect to visit the service center in next whole year till part waranty expire.

Wifey's brand new Altis (3-months old at that time in 2002) was stolen right in front of her eyes at Subang Parade... (read UMW Toyota Suxx Thread in this web forum). They have done nothing since then to improve security nor assured the Altis customers (and Fortuner and Camry...) of safety from car thieves.Originally Posted by SunwayKid
If you look at the latest Vios introduction, its only a matter of months before the Altis comes in the shape of the much-lauded Lexus IS250 shape... the new Altis is very nice but UMW Toyota still suxx big time in terms of Customer Service!
Why wait? If you wait any longer, by the time you get your car delivered, it will be outdated! Go google and you will see the new Altis is like the Lexcus IS250 design, lagi canggih!Originally Posted by Jaytea
Thats also the problem with UMW Toyota, they themself make their own cars obsolete through this waiting period. Imagine how many thousands of units of sales lost to Honda Civis, Honda Accord, Honda CRVs...
Soon they will face the Nissan Latios and Mazda 2s and 3s. I think UMW Toyota's management team can do better.
UMW purposely make you wait.
While customers were being told to wait, at the same time, there're several hundreds of Altis & Vios in their store collecting dust.
The 2 stores I saw with plenty of inventory, 1 in Serdang Raya, another in Seremban.
Guys... FYi... all new Altis coming in March 2008.Originally Posted by GreenBug
As for comments on the UMW Customer Service... well, have'ta agree with GB la.......but then again, when it comes to Customer Service in Malaysia... does it really exist...

You don't have to take your car to the service dept for a service if you find
that it sucks big time take it to your mechanic that you have known for years.
Yes, if he's good with electronics as well.Originally Posted by online12793
Mechanical stuff no problem.
Don't play play with electronics. The mechanics who're not well-trained can screw your car.
Its not just poor service and long queue at the various service centers, they even screw up simple thing like the Toyota On-Call Card! Two months sudah pun belum sampai...Originally Posted by online12793
I must have been lucky for the last 15 yrs with the same mechanic,Originally Posted by scorgio

Each time I wanted to buy a car, Toyota is my 1st choice BUT I never get to buy one!
Not that the car is not good BUT the salesman and the service staff piss me off!
I end up buying Ford, Peugeot, Hyundai, Honda ... & merc.
My colleague bought a Camry and within 6 months a newer model was on the road. Subsequently 6 months later the new model was superseded by YET another new model!!![]()
I got an earful from this colleague cos I recommend the camry to her. If not for the 'newer model' she has not much compliant on the car.
I was very surprise that Altis didn't go thru the 'newer model' cycle. I supposed Altis was not their bread winner as compared to the popular Vios and Camry.
I mentioned this in a previous thread that the folks at UMW Toyota is an irresponsible lot. They introduced the "new" Camry towards the end of 2004 as they were way behind for their year's target and they brought in enough to meet their sales target eventhough they were not ready to supply the market with the model with the demand. There was a long waiting period but then that Camry's market price deteriorated simply because a new "facelifted" model was on the road.Originally Posted by racheljansz
It happened again with the current model. The waiting list is so long that people who bought the Camry last year already lost about RM50,000 for their cars. They paid RM168,000 for their new Camrys last year and market price for a 2006 model is only around RM115,000.....
No, Toyota has lost one of its strong point ie good resale value eversince those folks in UMW Toyota started looking at numbers instead of customer satisfaction and delivering quality product and service...
