Errr Chermaine, hate to tell you this but your mask aint gonna give you much protection when api is more that 300 or so..
you shud get the 3M (N95)..that would filter 0.5 micron or maybe the EN149 European standard.
Selangor wud probably run out of mask , go to Kajang or Seremban...they still have stocks.

Yeah, I had those on (surgical mask) and still can smell the odour. But better than nothing. I think a wet handkerchief is ok too.

    Hi
If you are at home no need a mask lah just tie a wet towel around your nose and keep washing it. With this kind of smog mask is no help unless you keep changing them. Too much of of pollutants of the worst kind in the air.

how do you breathe in the mask?

    1. in thru the nose, out thru the mouth? OR
    2. in thru the nose, out thru the nose? OR
    3. in thru the mouth, out thru the mouth? OR
    4. in thru the mouth, out thru the nose? OR
    5. in thru both the mouth & nose, out thru the mouth? OR
    6. in thru both the mouth & nose, out thru the nose? OR
    7. in thru both the mouth & nose, out thru both the mouth & nose?

OR just wrap the mask on the nose (for breathing IN "FILTERED" air) and let OUT thru the uncovered mouth? Anyone?
What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple.
Whether you are willing to do it, that's another matter.

in an enclosed mask what we breathe out is mainly carbon dioxide, so to breathe normally, we are breathing in CO2... my last option of just covering the nose is more practicable...

    any other suggestions?
