    Leaking underground pipe

I think I have a leaking underground pipe problem. As I walk around USJ I noticed a number of houses which probably had the same problem. I see new piping done where it goes along the drain up the wall into the ceiling and I assume to the water tank. I am curious though how the piping is done for the kitchen as that normally is direct from the mains. Do you have to hack the floor and the wall to re-pipe water to the kitchen? Anyone with experience to share. I would be most happy to hear about it.

    Thanks.

Fr the direct pipes a new pipe is fixed and the old one is bypassed. If you want it to look nice you will have to conceal it. You may have problems getting the same tiles as in the kitchen you will have to hack the tiles. A cheaper but less nicer looking is to install the pipe on the wall .

For an intermediate house, I assume the new piping goes into the ceiling and from there branches into the water tank and also somewhere along the ceiling goes down towards the kitchen (whether concealed or external). After all, it does not make sense to hack the living room floor leading into the kitchen, right? Am already dreading the thought of the work involved.

Anyone tried any other innovative or creative ways?

    Hi Calvinhobbes,

My rented house had the same leaking problem last year. New piping goes through the side drain and up the side wall, then goes up to the tank on the ceiling. From there, the pipe goes to the back portion of the house and comes into the kitchen.

    HTH.

    Yup agreed with that...
It's a normal piping contractor always do....
If you hack the floor its will be very expensive...
( put in mind you have additional cost such as floor hacking + tiling )

Kitchen should have direct supply from the main....

If you get the supply from the tank....
The possiblity you will facing are...
    1. Not a clean water for your kitchen usage, why?
    - because you dont know the exact condition of your tank.
    2. Direct pressure and tank pressure is not the same.
    - if you are using your washing machine or something else at the same
time, you will facing a slow water pressure.

If me i will prefer to do like this...
    1. U can still tap directly from the main supply..
    2. Cross the pipe directly in your living and kitchen ( some of the wall
have to be hack a small hole ( ngam2 or bigger than the pipe size )
    3. After that join and seal back between the existing piping at the
    kitchen and the new piping.
    4. Than, all the piping shall be framed or boxed or concealed
( the size i would prefer is 6X6cm ) place it at the end in between the
    wall and the floor .
    5. Finally i will paint it with a different colour.

Maybe its will make different for my interior...some feature...

    Only my suggestion...

    Just My 2 cents....
    Im not a plumbing contractor....

    Slightly off title

I understand from a contractor who reworked my parents hse piping that you can only connect a water pump after the tank. So for the back kitchen as well as the washing maching piping which comes direct from the water meter cannot put water pump.

Anyone care to comment if this is true? I gave up trying to call Bekalan Air to enquire.

Sigh, looks like the same problem is happening to me. Looks like routing a new pipe up the roof to the tank and the kitchen is the most practical solution.
Would appreciate a reliable plumber contact. Please PM me or post here. Thanks
