nsx88 mentioned "Sharp Plasmacluster Series, it really kill germs". I think whoever wants to get a new aircond should really consider this Plasmacluster thing. Our air these days is soooo contaminated, this model will do a lot of good especially for people like me who's got some sinus problem. Just to get the Plasmacluster air filter alone will costs one more than 1 k! So the air cond becomes good value for money.

I dont have problem with my National and Sanyo airconds but when it's time to change, Sharp will be my first choice. Wish they had introduced the Plasmacluster earlier! ;-(

    Thanks for everybody's views here..

I went to an electrical shop... he sells Panasonic and Mitsubishi Air-con.. and he recommends me the later coz :

    1) faster cooling period than Panasonic air-con
    2) consume less electricity than Panasonic air-con
    3) can kill germs/virus/etc with its plasmascluster than Panasonic air-con
    4) it is designed for the users to do its own maintenance....
    5) quieter than Panasonic

but one thing is the price is higher than Panasonic...RM1,450 (includes installation) whereas Panasonic O2 is RM1,300 (includes installation)

P/s: Anyone here can recommend a good electric water heater as well...TQ.

I am using Acson 1HP air-con in my study room. 3 hrs everyday for the past 6 years. Service the entire unit every 2 years. Still going strong.

And yes, the compressor is a bit noisy now.

IIRC, paid for 1.5K include installation that time.

    Need recomendations..

HI guys, my aircon just went kaput after 25yrs of faithful service. It's the old type, window I guess.

Went through the market of the usual aircon, could anyone recommend an aircon installer who doesn't charge a bomb? I would probably need major installations as the walls probably need to be cemented up.

    Thanks.

Last Saturday I went to a shop in Taipan at Jalan USJ 10/1A (they have just expanded to a three shoplot electrical shop near to MAXIS Centre) and bought latest model - the Mitsubishi MR Slim model without any bargaining for RM 1,150.00 INCLUSIVE of installation. There was no surcharge of any kind. The installation was done just 1 hour after I have signed my credit card. That is very fast service.

That night I was straining my ears to listen to any noise. If not for the very cold room (the coldest is 16 degree Celcius) I would be wondering whether they have installed the aircond compresser outside!! The salesman was right. It is not only fast cooling (I think it is 9600 BTU) but damn quiet.

The installer is a Pakistani contracter who personally owns his service shop located at USJ 9. And he did a good job too. What impressed me most is the lighning service. I can't vouch that he is a good contractor as I have used him once. I will try him out before I can recommend him. But I have blacklisted one contractor with a double lettered name.

Was told by a friend that Hitachi is reliable too...compressor is quite & power consumption is low (10800 BTU). If you can purchase directly from dealer, it's only RM800 plus for 1HP...eeh, think that what my friend paid for as well...

Hi, just 2 share my experience. I have a 2hp Hitachi - cooling is fast n min maintenance, one 1hp Toshiba - thumbs down from day one, noising and not cooling and lastly 2 units of 1hp Acson - one is OK another is not (i guess the QS problem??). I told myself that if i'm getting another aircon in the future, its gonna be Hitachi.
