To the best of my knowledge, different company uses different medium to mix the chemicals. But most use diesel becos' it is just as effective and cheaper.

Please tell me I am wrong!

Or have any of you given a chance to smell the liquid??

Normally you are recommended to stay away from a just treated area for 1 reason or another.

The trick of the Pest Control trade is the amount of chemicals used which happen to be expensive. If the quoted price is right:-

For 1 year, normal dosage according to the book.

For 5 years, higher dosage according to the book but harmful to your enviroment and your health.

But if your Pest Control Contractor wants to make quick money or you squeeze him dry without much profit, then he will put less chemicals and as a result the termites are only partially killed or become better immune to the next attack from you.

Termites are getting stronger by the days in Boleh.

Pest Contractors are laughing to the Banks.

You are not getting value for your money.

    Please check lah.

    Err... mad1126

OK. Usually, the termites attack the wooden door frames, especially the toilet and the room doors near the toilet, due to the damp condition of the ground near the toilet. So, first check the toilet door frames. Give a knuckle knock and listen for sound to that indicate it is hollow inside. Telltale signs can also be seen if the attack is already at it's advanced stage.

Do not spray with insecticide or anything - it only shift them to another area. Termites like damp floor, especially when you have card-boxes and plank, plywood etc... in the store-room. The store-room on the ground floor close to the toilet is very susceptible to termite attack.

If your neighbours house already got termites, check with your other neighbour. Do not be surprise. Chances is your other neighbour also has been attacked. Check with them what method they use to treat the termites. Some methods do not eliminate the termite colony where the termites come from. These merely deter and repel them away. Soon, they attack another location, and another, shifting from A to B and then to C.

The method used by forumers here is scientifically proven. It uses a chemical that biodegrade over time. So, you can say this method is also environmentally safe. I did it, and see it worked. PM me if you need any further help. My service is free! hehe... only for forumers here. within accessible distance lar!

Err... Naka , So true... Some chemicals used by the Pest Control are so very strong, you can smell it from a KM away. I had that done many years ago, and the smell itself already chased the pests away. Guess they dare not come any closer ... or die of suffocation

The one used by Sentricon is odourless, can hardly smell it. You can be assured, it would not chase them away. But, on the contrary... the whole battalion will come and attract the bait, which eliminates them. Psst... Not too loud eh! The can hear from the within the walls!

Me think otherwise... You pay not only for the chemicals or the wares, but also for their service... If you want a good job, no choice mah. You want them to come and check every fortnight or every month... That's what you are paying for also. I feel that is also on the high side. But what to do, they also have to make a living mah, rite?

    Maybe this will help.....

The termites, so called white ants are actually NOT ants, rather they belong to the group classified, (you not going to believe this !! ) as cockcroach !!!

Now having said that, there is a product, which is heavily advertised on TV and other mass media, where you place a 2 inch square plastic contracption containing some "chemical food" which will be eaten by cockcroachs and then they die, others eat them and they die too.

Now, since the termites belong to that same group, (lightbulb brightens !)maybe this will work !

Cheaper than Sentricon by many folds...but one must find the termites nest and possibly one have to break open the plastic casing and get the "chemical food" to the nest of the termites. Not easy but then again its not impossible.

I hope to try it... and if it does work..I will write a report here....with step by step instructions... if you dont see my report that means its "No go" or maybe and possibly some pest control company pays me to keep silence !!

    ..........
Aiyeoh yeoh, ( my apologies to pc ), after I paid RM2,500 to the Sentricon guys, now we have a plastic contraption that could probably do the same thing ah ?
Aiyaahh aroki, more potential purchase of bananas ( RM2,500 worth ) gone to waste ..... have to depend solely on chang's supply lor.
Am eagerly waiting for your report ....Zimon.

At least I can see now if the RM 2,500 I paid Sentricon was worth it or not.

they failed to either kill or chase the Termite away..we have being asking them to spray before we know there is actually termite in our house, because lots of neighbour complaint bout it..after 2-3years of spraying also at last we kena..all the wooden door and window is badly spoilted..ALL EMPTY inside!!!

my dad was so furious with Pest Control..the ammount we paid is not little(around Rm80/month)and yet this happened..nothing we can do..changed everything that was infected to aluminium and cancel the service of Pest Control

Wow JG! Din noe it cost that much. True or not? Is that for a year of contract? How frequent do they check out your compound, and what do they actually do for that 2.5K contract?

Let me butt in - yes Sentricon is expensive but the results are spectacular. Actually, it depends on the exterminator company - perhaps different companies have different pricing, so check it out. In my case, they calculated the cost based on the size of the ground floor builtup area. So I guess it is fair - a big house owner pays more compared to one who stays in a small terrace house. In my case, their cost includes a bimonthly check (once in 2 months) for the 1-year contract. During the one year contract, if another infestation occurs, it is treated with no extra cost. After the year is over, I could sign up for a contract to monitor the house for 25% of the initial cost. That involves bimonthly checks with treatment when necessary.

Ditto for me except I paid 20% of initial cost i.e. RM 500 for the contract to monitor. Those guys carry themselves quite well and the results as chang said are spectacular. Remember I said my neighbour oso walking around with smile on his face ?
What happens during the monitoring period is that they come once every 2 months and check for signs for renewed infestation. They have stuck to their schedule so far.

    Hi guys,
For my USJ 3 house when attacked years back, went for the drilling method (no Sentricon at that time). They pumped a chemical called 'Chorodane', which is now banned, and gave me a 10 years warranty. For weeks, I notice that flies entering my house would just drop dead. I would find lizards and insects dead around my house.

And guess what, to make matters worst, I was hit twice after the soil treatment, within 3 years.

JG ... What's the effective coverage radius of those treatment given?
