House facing north or south better?

    Hi,

Was wondering in terms of choosing a house's direction, is it better to be facing north or south? I did some search in the net and some local properties websites but not much info so I thought I try here.

    Thanks in advance...

Houses facing South is the best - provided the house is in China, not make of bricks and during winter time.

Since major China being in the north of the Tropics of Capricorn (or is it Cancer) suffers much from the cold winter winds from the north blowing in from the frozen Siberia. So, if the entrance of the house faces south, the winds will be beating most probably at its 3 other sides. Other than that I don't see any benefits. If so, the developers would be building houses on a pivotal spindle and let you align yourself which side you want your house to be facing every day. My house faces south. My wife is getting older every year, I am still poor and I don't think there will be another woman sharing my bed. If south facing direction is good, then I will be rich enough by now to send my wife to Marie France everyday and she will be getting younger and you would have guessed it - there will be another woman in my life.

Superstitious Chinese believe south is better.
Some are prepared to pay a premium for that direction.
Known of some developers charging extra RM5K or RM10K for houses facing South.

    Welcome usjfly. related to Firefly?

For me, I don't mind the house facing north or south, as long as not facing west nor any of the rooms face west. Reason cause the sun sets in the west and afternoon/evening sun very hot lah.

Does it really matter which way the house face ? the sun, at the end of the day and going down on its way, is bound to hit one side of the house.

Some say dont face north (nothing to do with the sun in this case) as thats the direction where the "bad spirits" roam and may accidently slip in and stay put.

I want my bedroom window faces next door's swimming pool !!!!!

Seeing this, I also heard argument about sleeping direction. Which direction you should face when sleeping. Facing east and west is not advisable since it is against the magnetic field from the earth. Any comments?

thanks for the warm welcome...errr, nolah not related to Firefly..

quite funny some of the opinions , thanks for sharing, actually I'm not supersitious, I'm just checking because trying to find out which one is less hotter.. I know to avoid west or east when choosing a house, but wanted to know does north or south makes a difference in terms of heatiness and if so why? (esp. since we are in the equator - should be sama-sama north or south)

    thanks again
