RM25,028.00 handed over to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society

I should like to confirm that Cheques totaling RM25,028.00 collected under the SJ/USJ Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund were handed over to the

    Malaysian Red Crescent Society

at a simple ceremony at their Headquarters in Ampang this morning at 10.30am, the event was well attended by the mass media.

Together with 12 other Organisations including the Insurance Brokers, Car dealers, and the Korean Community a cool ¼ of a million ringgit was collected.

It was also pointed out that more than 30 tons of aid was received and awaiting shipment to Aceh, Sri Lanka and India.

Once we have the pictures of the handover, they will be posted here.

A quick thank you for your contribution toward this Community effort.

The programme, which had a span of six months to a year, was still under discussion, he said.

A team of seven MRCS volunteers would leave for Aceh Saturday to hand over humanitarian aid to the tsunami victims there, he told reporters at the presentation of donations amounting to RM252,798 from 14 companies and organisations at the MRCS headquarters, here.

The contributions were handed over by representatives of the organisations to MRCS Chairman Tunku Tan Sri Shahriman Tunku Sulaiman.

The donors were the Korean Society, the Korean Women's Society, Malaysia National Insurance Berhad, GD Express, Lanson Place, Sunrise Mont Kiara Community Berhad, Clipsal Manufacturing Sdn Bhd & Management & Staff, Insurance Brokers Association of Malaysia, Exxon Mobil, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Car Dealers and Credit Corporate Association, Unilever Malaysia, Mediconstant Pharmacy Sdn Bhd, USJ Residents Community Association and Circle of One Charity Auction and Donation.
