I'm still sitting on my arse waiting to see if any Mobile Telco operator is going to set up an SMS donation drive.

Each SMS sent to xxx number with the text "TSUNAMI", RM1 will be charged on your credit and donated to RCS.

Simple and effective. Millions of ringgit can be collected within 2-3 days. But then again, I think those in control are to busy "ooh-ahhing" over emails with photo/video of the disaster to think.

Another case of not using technology to aid/simplify things.

Pardon my myopic viewpoint and for diverging from the issue at hand.

Err...ALL general n motor insurance institutions...should be made to contribute substantially to the Tsunami Disaster Relief & Rebuild Funds...immediately to be imposed by Bank Negara...as one of the compulsory prerequisite...to BN's prior allowance of....the implementation of their immediate plans to increase the risk management portforlio effectively from 1st January 2005...by underwriting the future effective coverage clauses for damages or loss sustained from any sorts of natural disaster...such as the current effects of the Tsunami n earthquake disaster...

Ahem...it is the least they could morally do for the charitable cause...after having been immunized from having to compensate to the devastating losses arising from all the damages to the properties n motor vehicles...in the present tragedy of the Tsunami...n then having to think about benefiting from the current disaster as a springboard to launch the awareness from the general public of their future insurance policies for such likelihood of such natural disaster events...happening again in the immediate future...

This is for the guys attending the meet last night. Thanks for the assistance. I will collect on behalf of the bloggers, and it will be clustered as Blog Donations, together with mine. So at the very least, bloggers will contribute more than 5k.

Will prepare the minutes and circulate by this evening. Next meet we can have at my house. I make better roti canai than the mamak.

From personal experience, asking for "donations" is the hardest things to do but a carnival is different. I have been toying with a community sort of fund-raiser for a while now. There are people who's willing to sponsors prizes, set up booth etc just need the mechanism...

robertec/mack, how's the setting up of the SJ/USJ Tsunami Disaster Fund coming along?

& mack, if you can, do a write-up where we can print it to distribute among the community - something that will tuck at the heart. TQ

any bakery over here willing to donate their unsold baked products to our neighbour?

better than throwing it out at the end of day. Any bakery association we can contact?

giving bread's much better than rice and flour as it's ready to eat.

We have a slight hitch, which when settled within these 2 days will signal the launch of our

    SJ/USJ Tsunami Disaster Fund

I have to explain that we are going to be dealing with Residents’, Friends’ and Neighbours’ hard earned money, rightly for a noble cause, which makes it imperative that there must be no room for any compromise on transparency.

Ever single sen will be accounted for, so keep you hands on your purses/wallets and when the time comes donate from your heart.

We can make a difference and we should.

There are presently so many religious organisations asking for donations in kind, just make sure you do not miss out on the chance to react, we are after all from the SJ/USJ Community.
