    Angry Pine trees along SS18/5

The MPSJ chopped down the pine trees along SS18/5F some months ago. Now the whole stretch of road which was looking so green and cooling is barren with only trunk stumps sticking out! I sent an e-mail to our assembly man urging him to save the trees but it was all in vein. I also made a compliant in the MPSJ website about this but there was no response.

This is how much our local council and leaders care for the enviroment we live in!There was no reason to chop the trees down. Even if it was causing disruptions to power supply, the trees could have been trimmed and left alone..why chop them down? Can someone throw some light on this matter and when his MPSJ return the lsot greenery along SS18/5 and Jalan Kewajipan?

Do you know why they are chopping down all the trees in Subang Jaya? I've this answer for you, ksj_cool. Maybe, it's due to this wireless broadband thing that Maxis, Tmnet and now Jaring are promoting! Those bladi tall trees are obstructing their wireless transmission. Sorry, joking only. In my opinion, those pine trees are not really suitable in our township. The branches break easily especially during heavy rain and the fallen leaves are quite messy. I've seen the rotten branches fell on 5 cars this year in USJ 2 areas alone! I would prefer the local council replace them with Flame of Forest which are hardly seen nowadays.

odd to know that we see many more palms than trees from the rainforest.
guess municipal councils have decided that palms require less trimming and are cutting back budgets for tree maintenance.

Hi, I have been living in Subang Jaya since 1985 and now USJ. The trees that are planted are designed to be replaced every 3 months , if not their budget is not expensed. Originally the then Subang Jaya boast of a very well planned township , and those days the township is in the path of the Airplane landing in Subang Airport.

To lure buyers the developer offered T.V. , Fridge and Air-cond and proudly declared that Angsana, Raintree and Casuariana Trees are planted. So it was done. When the MPPJ left and MPSJ came the trees are replaced with shrubs, Palm trees and now concrete road divider. In Section 19, near Shell
there are decorative Pots with Bouganvilla plants, now that is left of Mr. Fuad's term and of course the millenium square.

Today we are very lucky to have a very efficient Council that beautify the town every 3 months and the opportunity to witness new species of plants.

Our kawasan Lampang is no more and our playground are to be developed sooner or later. So my friend if you want to buy a house in Subang Jaya, you are welcome it is very exciting as thing changes very fast.

What use to be Low Cost Flats are tranformed into meduim cost Court 1,2, 3
If your house is facing a playground or empty land, be careful plans are being submitted for proposed Petrol kiosks, Hawker Centre etc.

I hear that they are cosidering a hawker cum walkway streching from the railway station to section 14 subang jaya.

Anyway, this is development and luckilly we have usj.com.my to arouse the community to protest, many thanks to the hawked eye founders who always prompted the community of any new development other then originally planned.

Question Re: Pine trees along SS18/5

I really hope the replant those trees !!! Being a nature lover myself I really love those pine trees.. whatever happened to the 'Kempen menanam pokok' which was launched by our ex-pm. Has this campaign been abandoned ?
By the way MPPJ has planted some trees in the Sunway Mentari area.

it needs 10 years to grow the trees & u wait some 10 years to have the trees grown taller so u'd get a better cooling environment.

AND it needs few days chopping off the well-grown trees.

Thumbs down Re: Pine trees along SS18/5

Its so easy to chop...i really miss those pine trees.....they really made the area look cool ....there are still a couple of trees left further up the road...i don't know why they spared them...maybe the house owners asked them to leave the trees alone.

Don't be too sure. Those remaining trees won't be there for long. Since Christmas is coming they will be chopped down soon and ended in someone's house as Christmas tree decoration! Maybe this one of the reason why those trees disappeared as Ksj_cool lamented earlier. On a serious note, I think MPSJ should consider replanting with more mango trees too and "pajak" (is this the right word?) to private companies who will maintain the trees and harvest the fruits. Win-win situation for everyone. MPSJ gets an income and we residents can buy the fruits at special price. No stealing please, we are "honest" citizens of Subang Jaya.

Mr kanny, you may be right on that..especially when the artificial christmas trees are sold at ridiculous prices! About your win-win plan to get MPSJ plant mango trees..i don't think it is so workable. When MPSJ just can't manage the work of trimming trees, how are they going to maintain mango trees which need ferterlizing and a lot of attention

While we wait.... and wait, and wait... for MPSJ to replant the trees... does anyone know where we can get cheap tree saplings or fruit tree saplings to plant ourselves...

Guess instead of complaining and grumbling, maybe we could be pro-active and plant the trees ourselves. My neighbours and I are planning to line our stretch of street with fruit trees saplings... hopefully we can get it done by year end or before CNY...

Good idea, we should all be responsible to safeguard and to improve the environment around us. I will volunteer to be part of any community grouping in my area to plant trees or to beautify the area in any other way. I just bought a house and moved in here and I do not know much about the resident associations in my area. Still waiting for someone to drop a newletter in my post box !

Dear people of USJ, just a suggestion. Before planting trees kindly ensure you get the kind of trees whereby the roots grow right down and not branch out or we can say bye bye to the drains and fences.

Hold on folks, if you get the saplings cheaply, and work for free planting them, then how is MPSJ going to spend their landscaping budget? If they do not finish spending it, how to stimulate the economy? I think we should plant some nice imported artificial palm trees. No need to worry about roots breaking up our drains and roads, leafs littering our roads or branches falling onto cars. I know a very good, very reliable and trustworthy contractor to supply them.
