There is a shop on the lower ground floor in Subang parade. It is called Ultra something. They sell waterco filter, almost 2k but varies based on size. I use this in my place. Easy to use.

alternatively there is Bacfree in SS19 area. they have various filters as well.

Mu suggestion get one for the incoming water(reasonable one is ok, no need to be too expensive and make sure it is easy to use) and one for the tap in the kitchen for drinking water(should boil it anyway). Bacfree has a good filter for the kitchen tap(RM5++). You can always go with one outside if there is budget issues.

BTW, check you tank for any rats..the Ultra guys clean my tank as part of the package

Re: Water Filter - where to buy?

My PC has scanned and detected a new virus called 'HydroGuard.' As the name denotes, this virus suddenly mutated itself on 3 January 2005 and so far has affected three postings. But there is nothing to panic as this virus seems to go after postings that has to do with water filters. My anti virus program listed the following thread that were attacked by the 'HydroGuard' virus. They are a) water filter? b) outdoor water filters and c) Water filters - where to buy. But strangely enough, it has chosen not to infiltrate other postings that has something to do water such as PUAS, SPLASH and SYABAS. When I study the report produced by my anti virus scanning software, it says that because of the inefficiency and the poor delivery of services by PUAS, SPLASH and SYABAS, the virus 'HydroGuard' will continue to thrive and prosper. My software suggested using the antidote called 'kwchang' to get rid of this virus. For the time being, please hang on.

Do not buy your water filter from a door-to-door sales person. They are con artists.

hydroguard, your style of posting same message cross over different thread is not appreciated, it's even so when what you are posting here mislead most of us. It's nothing more than cheap publicity and hardsell of your part.

... HydroGuard is tailor made to tackle specific water problems in your area. In addition, unlike other water filters, our system only removes contaminants harmful to health leaving behind minerals essential for you and your family’s well being.

    1) What type of filtering system you are using to be so intelligent enough to identify what mineral is good and what is not to filter? How many micron of your filter pole size?
    2) Do you know that theoretically, pure water should consist H2O only, anything other than that consider contaminant?
    3) Do you know where is the mineral come from in the water? It's coming from the stone and soil, so is it healthy for human to consume soil?
    4) Do you know that not all mineral can be digested by our body? The mineral can be of organic and inorganic. Inorganic mineral cannot be absorb by our body and should filter by our kidney and pass out thru urine, the more inorganic mineral you consume the more work your kidney need to carry out until it's wear out and the sooner I may see you at dialisys center. Those not remove from our body can possibly accumulate and cause clog, tumor and stone in our body. If the mineral in water is so good to us, why don't Singapore just consume sea water rather than buying water from us? I'm sure sea water got a lot of mineral too.
    5) No doubt, mineral is important to our body but water should not be the source that we obtain the mineral, the content of mineral in water is very minimal, it's more feasible to get it from food. A cup of milk contain more mineral than 50 gallons of water, as a smart consumer what would we rather consume to achieve same result? But the main point is if the water filter system can let mineral go through so can bacteria and heavy metals. If got choice we want to drink pure water rather than risk being contaminated, and getting the essential mineral from food.

My favourite topic - Water Filter

I bought mine in Carrefour, Giant and the shop outside Giant USJ.

There is also one shop right after the USJ3 &4 bridge call bacfree.

Mine is a cheapo cost about RM30 with a 5 micron filter. I install it myself after seeing the plumber did it the first time. Its not that difficult and can be messy if you forgot to turn off the main I also have a ceramic one by the sink for drinking.

    this must be a water-borne type-lah
What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple.
Whether you are willing to do it, that's another matter.

Re: Water Filter - where to buy?

Hey folks...it just occured to me. If there are many of us interested in those back-washable filters for the whole house, why dont we negotiate we vendors for the best deal! I know one company dealing in an Australian brand . Theirs supposed to filter up to 3 microns and comes with a 10 year warranty. If there are a number of us interested, I could explore for a good deal.

How many of you are keen? Put up your hands please?

    Rgds.

How to tell you how much yet? Let me talk to them and get quotes for the various sizes. I believe they have 3 - one for household, one for condo and another for condo/household. But I need to have some basic number indication before I can negotiate with them. After all the talk, end up only 2 persons only interested how? Shy lah!!
