    R U Happy wz AssTro?

Someone not satisfied wz AssTro service:
Item below is from Sabah Times of 8Nov

    ============================
Raw deal for Astro subscriber in Tenom

MORE that two weeks had passed by since RURAN paid her instalment fee. And she is still unable to view any of the Astro channels at her home in Kampung Tomani, Tenom.

“I paid an instalment fee of about RM180. But I am unable to view any of the channels on my television set. And because the area where I live has poor telephone connection, I have no choice but to drive all the way to Tenom town to use a public phone booth just to call the Astro office in Kota Kinabalu!” RURAN said.

“However, what upsets me more was the fact that the numbers (088) 290 488, 265 668 and 290 438 were not answered at all whenever I called,” she said.

“And on several occasions, I was put through a voice machine, which I felt was only a waste of time and money,” RURAN said.

She also said that she had paid a local store in Tenom town to have an Astro receiver installed at her house.

“In fact, I related my problem to the Astro staff members manning the store in Tenom but they were unable to help me since they were only dealing with selling products,” RURAN said.

WHEN contacted, a spokesperson at the Astro office in Kuala Lumpur said that RURAN’s problem had been forwarded to her superiors and they are now looking into it.

In the meantime, she said that all other Astro’s customers needing any assistance can also provide details of their grievances through its e-mail at wecare@astro.com.my or fax at (03) 9543 7333.

“Customers can e-mail us with a subject heading ‘Astro Customer Service’. They can also fax us with the same heading,” she said.

The spokesperson explained that the e-mail or fax should include the Astro subscriber’s account number or identity card number as well as the serial number of Astro’s New Smart Card on the decoder.

    =====================================

If a customer has to travel to a town to make a fone call, how is he/she supposed to send email/fax to AssTro?

Kuala Tomani in the district of Tenom is a very remote area of Sabah. It is in the heartland of the Interior. The distance between Kuala Tomani and Tenom is about 22 miles. There are only a handfull of ppl living there. It is hilly and it's not even a cowboy town. Infrastructure is below par.

I am not sure but I really have my doubt that you can get any TV signal there.

    Naka,
We were talking about receiving AssTro..
Just point the dish upwards, around 91 degrees..u can get the signal..
Even the Masai in the bush;ands of Africa..can receive satellite programmes, as long as they have electrical power of some sort.
The crunch of the matter is, the poor lady bought the STB (set top box)
hoping to see legal programmes..and AssTro lets her down!
They expect her to send a email!..do they know if she has a computer?
    Fax machine somemore..?
For her to receive terresterial programmes..I am quite sure..is out of the question..
AssTro got to get their act together, as far as customer service is concerned..
otherwise..MiTV..around the corner..will get most of the cake!

Cool Re: R U Happy wz AssTro?

    Satish,

Oh, dear where am I? Hehehehhe!!

With satellite, of course they can receive the signal.

I agree that AssTro has to do some home-work or else the opposition--MiTV
    will chip away the cake.

    Ciao!

I requested we have the subtitles to be "off" because some of us
understand english so that it does not clutter up the movie
but they ignored me. So I just cancelled my subscription.

If I want subtitles, I can watch national tv which is free.

Anyway, they keep repeating some movies

I have just switched from half-yearly subscription to monthly with Astro. This is in anticipation of the forthcoming competitor. Ultimately, we need a provider to furnish world-class news (for those in the family that are concern with what's the world gonna be so that they can strategise their plans!), the canton dramas/tamil movies/bahasa melayu shows (for those whose world revolves around melodrama) and kids stuffs (cartoons/tvIQ/DiscoveryKids etc).

Who can provide that? People will steer towards there. Before that.......just sigh!!! and teach your kids about the REAL world of Power & Control (by watching world-class news....ahem........not those lopsided channels.

A friend of mine won a sms contest in the Asstro Tamil channel and they officially mentioned his name in the programme and the prize was a color TV.

He got so excited and went to Asstro to collect his prize but was told by the Ass people that he won't get a TV but substituted with some unknown leather goods instead. When he demanded for his winning prize , he was told to read the rules of the Ass station.

    Isn't this CHEATING the subscribers???

Some ASS TV STATION we have.

We do hope when Mitv becomes fully fledged they wont short change us and treat us the way Astro is now treating its subscribers...something we have to wait and see and make comparisons.

We do pay quite a lot for Astro's services so its not being kiasu to expect better services.. iz it ?

with Mitv and better free2air ( 7 8 n 9 ) channels expect astro to improve.. its common sense that more competition results in better services for the consumer.

Is it true that after you cancel your subscription with Astro, you can still receive RTM, TV3, NTV7 and channel 8 stations through your decoder? I heard this from someone, and I would just like to know if it is true?

    Thanks.

Humans are difficult to satisfy especially when we are paying for it. Astro has raised prices and increase ads..so a little bit of competition won't hurt them.will wake them up to give better service and charge reasonably. My frriends in Spore pay much less than we do for the cable plus additional cables. We in Msia pay a bomb for Astro compared to the Sporeans. Look at our SMS rates..and those companies are still making more $$..you want my business, fight for it..come on Mitv

its not true buddy !!! They cut you off straight away!!! The only thing I am not happy about Azztro is their subscription fee keep on going up, last time I used to pay sixty plus now come to eighty plus almost ninety, they add in some channel which I don't ever tune in at all.
Another thing is that last time they promise to lower the subscription rate once they reach certain million of viewer target, I can't recall the figure, but now its UP UP AND AWAY
    !!!
