Who do you bank with?

I bank with

PBB : my only checking account. Nice service over the counter but I hardly use them. I do all my banking via net and machines at PBB
HLB : my home loan is there. Extremely bad service but no choice since already signed loan with them.
OCBC : another loan with them. Great service. Not many branches but at least their ATMs and CDMs are always up (at least for me)
HSBC : salary goes here and then directly to credit card also with HSBC. Good online service but customer service can be a bit arrogant if your balance is below 5K.

I agree Phileo Allied was the best when it comes to customer service. I used to bank with them at the PJ State branch for a number of good years and after taken over by MBB it's all downhill. I closed account right after that

HSBC isn't that bad. I get very good service especially from their PJ State & Pusat Bandar Damansara branch.

Public Bank - I dread going to this bank in Taipan to collect my credit card. They are slow and parking problem.

Public Finance - The one in Kelana Park View is fast but merged into Public Bank now. Account closed since my office moved.

MBB (Next to Dominoes) - Once waited with relative for 4 hours to open a kiddie account! The atm are packed most evening.

MBB(Kelana Parkview) - Packed but ample parking place.

Chartered Bank - (Taipan/Loan Center) House Loan. Inefficient. The staff is plainly "cacat akal". Once, they asked my relative to provide the original insurance policy from Goodyear management to them to waive their insurance! Eventhough the copy given to them was certified! They issue me a credit card but the points are so difficult to accumulate I stop using it.

HongKong Bank - Taipan. More efficient nowadays. But since they charge me for my saving account, I closed it. They lost my RM500 cheque payment for my credit card before and then charge me late payment when I already sent another RM500 for payment. Later they replace the lost RM500.

Franky, HSBC had lost my cheque payment a few times but I refuse to pay for the late charges & make lots of noise in the end they waive this & that....

No. HSBC is not bad. Just that they do have some staff that is a bit condescending when you are dealing with them and they have your balance in front of them.

I am very surprised that in this era of eBanking and ATMs, everybody here seem to have one thing in common and most of them have complaints about them - over the counter transaction. Gone are the days where OTC transaction was the only option and those bank personnel were well trained to deliver not only efficient but polite service. In this ICT age, personnel have lost the human touch and worse still, they have passed the "sickness" to their machine so much so that their machine have caught this syndrome called "ROSAK"

The banks are also diverting their focus. They are not interested on their deposit interest rates anymore. Some of them have negative interest rates. They are more interested in interest on loans. The other day I was at OCBC applying for a loan. When I stepped into the bank, I had 2 SYT swarming on me and was so polite and friendly that I wanted to date them but I strained myself to remain very focus on my objective why I was there in the first place. I was attended to with the most courteous service and everything was done very efficiently. Last week I went there again to enquire about the status of my loan. The same thing happened again and I felt good. Again I wanted to date them. But when I told them I wanted to enquire about the status of my loan, the next thing I found out that two of them just moved away as if I have caught leprosy. Only one was left to attend to me. She just said "Follow up" and brought me to the phone counter, dial a number and passed the phone to me and said "You just speak to the lady" And the lady on the other line asked me for more information and then told me the status of the loan. If you people have gone to USJ 9 Subang Business Centre, you know very well the it is next to impossible to find a parking lot. And here I was having survived the farking ...er I mean parking problem was told what to do when I could do exactly that in my bed - talk over the phone. What I was disappointed is that if I have taken the whole trouble to drop into the bank, at least allow me to speak to my favourite girl at the desk and have that personalised service. They are following the customer concept at the Pajak Kedai. Do you notice that when you want to pawn something, you deal at the counter where the pawnshop guy is sitting behind a counter which you have to strain your neck to talk to him. Psychologically, you are being intimidated and have little bargaining power. But when you want to retrieve back your pawned goods, you are invited to sit at the desk when the pawnshop man talk to you face to face giving you a feeling of wanting to do future business with them again.

So the bottom line is that there is no perfect Bank here that is able to service our financial needs the way we want them to , Right?

Ski, like human beings and all things in life, there's no such thing as "perfect" bank or for that matter, human beings. Like us, they have their flaws & goodness.

Bottom line is no bank is good in everything, the popular view so far

PBB : speedy OTC transactions
HSBC & Citibank : good for credit cards
Phileo Allied: Great customer service

Wah Tat Bank....... always friendly, know you by name, call you when not enuf fund in current acct, and even do door service when you really need it (since my office was next door)

But they are no longer around. Can't remember who swallowed them.

Now, kena guna Maybank. Have been banking with them for donkey years. The maybank2u.com may be the only reason why I am still "supporting" MBB.

My experience.

Public bank - fast service, some staff can speak english well, unfortunately not many atm machines.
Maybank - slow service, most staff cannot even speak basic english, a lot of atm machines and money deposit machinese but most of time out of service !
HKSBC - everything they charge and charge, very professional staff though.

The rest loses out.

For those who parks a minimum of 200K in FD, insist on Permium Banking Card for ease of banking. No need to queue, just flash card at counter and you'll be given VIP treatment. Commission on Bank Draft is waived too. Many banks have that facilities. In certain difficulty situation, the Manager himself will personally attend to you.

Err..ahem...in any highly remote possibility of Orchi being able to save up that kind of money...the manager n counterstaffs of the freaking bank better know who the heck Orchi is...err...personally...

Ahem...otherwise...it would be even more fun...telling them in their face that should Orchi isn't pleased with the bank's customer service....err...n having the thrills of taking out that kind of money...n walking into another bank's branch...n another...n another....until Orchi meets with the best bank who would do anything good to keep their customers happy....no need any priority banking bull's poops....
