    Maid Abuse: Housewife Charged

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- A housewife, Yim Pek Ha, was charged in the Sessions Court here Saturday with four counts of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to her Indonesian maid.

Yim, 36, who was on the verge of tears, pleaded not guilty to all the charges which were read out to her in Cantonese by a court interpreter.

Yim faces three charges of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Nirmala Bonat, 19, with dangerous weapons, namely an iron and hot water, at her house at 33B-25-6, Villa Putera, Jalan Tun Ismail, here, in January, March and April this year.

She is also charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Nirmala with a metal cup at the same place at 3pm on May 17 this year.

Judge Aktar Tahir denied bail and Yim will be remanded at the Kajang Prison pending trial on July 26-28.

    pic of yim pek ha

goto screenshots for a link to utusan online for her pic.

is the plot thickening when the hubby lodged a police report that the injuries were self-inflicted & that RM10K was stolen by the maid... when the maid said that she has no hard feelings...

well, the upcoming trial this Jul 26-28 will reveal more.

also did u all read the story of the maid who was not paid RM5.5K by a 40 yr old divorcee in SJ? (TheStar pg. 4). looks like similar maid stories will be shown by all medias... but it's good that the media r also showing good maid-employer story like on today's star also on pg. 4.

Maids from Indonesia are supposed to be at least 25 years old. This girl is 19 and looks her age. How did she manage to get here?

Topguru, you have to make a police report and this report must be submitted to the immigration else you will not be able to hire another foreigh maid as your record will show you have one still under your employment. The police will also fine you RM250.00 This amount will be use to send the maid back if she is caught. You will also need to inform your agency for a replacement. most agency gives a minimum 6 months warranty of employment but levi must be paid in full again by you

All in all, we are on the loosing end. My dad's indon maid also ran away . Took with her 2 grasscutting sears, a portable radio and some $$$. What else is missing is still not fully determined.

What 25 years old!!! so far the 2 previous maids were not even 20. This 1 that ran away, is 22.

KH EE, if what the accusations are correct/true, there is gonna be lots of red faces.

10K+ stolen, now donations pouring in... She is going home really rich!!!

Sorry I am on the side of the employer until she is proven guilty. No human can inflict so much damage without feeling guilty.

A Great Teacher who taught compassion and forgiveness was put in a tight spot when a mob caught a woman commiting adultery and pose the question on punishment to Him. It was obvious that she should be stoned to death. The Great Teacher replied, "Let those without sin, cast the first stone." Now, this maid abuser of the modern era is caught for inflicting injuries on this maid and I was there looking for the biggest stone I can lay my hands on. The mob was simply unimaginable. They did not hesitate to cast the first until the last stone and until no stone is available. Even government ministers and those in the judiciary joined in the fun. As for me, I was glad that I was looking for the biggest stone. While looking for it, I have the time to think more deeply. Why does she do that? She has just given birth to her fourth child and could this be the result of post natal depression? She must have a reason that snapped her mind and turn her into an animal or monster as many would not hesitate to label her. Isn't there some mitigation factor everybody failed to or refuse to see as all their minds are clouded by the photo that painted a billion pixels. Let the court first try her and I hope it will temper justice with compassion. So far I don't see that happening when bail was refused. Even a murderer got bail. That woman needs real help. As for the maid, she will go back home a very very rich lady and soon everything will be forgotten. Yeah, don't tell me about the trauma on this simple rural folk as this is only applicable to modern and sophisticated society where this word is used for self pity for mega claim. For others, they will fatten their pockets with mega bucks as there are contracts to be awarded to screen employers whether they are fit or not to employ maid. For the politicians, they will have one more feather in their cap. For some, they get this colourful feather for being a parrot - echoing what their bosses say. And for the rest who have thrown the stones - you better be a good employer to your own maid. You may not scorch her with the hot iron or hot water but make sure that your young kids don't do it on your behalf. As for the big stone I was looking for, forget it, I am going home.

I think the court was wise to decide to lock her up until the case starts. In my opinion, if she was let out on bail, the indonesians down here might take the law into their own hands on her.

Firefly, I truly believe in what you said, innocent until proven guilty. But common sense prevails, my friend. Look a little deeper into the case and you will know whether she is guilty or not.

    1. If the maid did steal 10k, why did the husband have to wait until the wife was arrested to lodge a report?

    2. Self infliction. If this was the case, the maid would have, most to most, claimed that the employer raped her, no? No human can bring him/herself to burn, scald, cause the nipples to drop off and what have you not on themselves. Unless you are practising yoga and even if it was such, I would have personally informed Guinness Book of Records Prime Time to air her feat!

I can go on and on, but the very thought of the maids pic on the first day just makes me sick to think that we have such bastards in our midst. Think about the 'hell' the maid is going to go thru for the rest of her life.

My heartfelt sympathies to her and her family back in Indonesia. I just wish that the court will, instead of confining the guilty party within the walls of a prison cell, will allow the same pain and torture to be inflicted on the guilty one. Sloooooooooowwwwwlllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyy.

i usually send my kid to school around 6.15 am. before i go to office.

without fail, every morning, rain or shine(still dark), i could see indon maids in my neighbourhood already busy washing cars, some already into the second car by that time. they must have got up much earlier, may be 5.30 am.? some maids even wash their bosses's cars in pajama. can you imagine that? thin, revealing pajama, you could see their under garments in your head light!

some employers just want to make sure they get their money worth, by working their maids to death!

if you start to wonder i have a maid or not, let me say this, i don't have one.

Hi - Allow Orchi to reflect on UChangeng's kind suggestions. Orchi's own car is not washed by the maid. Wifey's car is washed only when necessary n conveniently on Sundays only. Orchi sees no point in having the maid to clean the cars more often than that.

    1. The maid normally doesn't wash it as clean as Orchi were to clean it ownself.

    2. The outside car washers do better jobs too at reasonable prices, which may include giving the car a good vacuum n polishing job.

    3. Better having the maid to concentrate on looking after the household chores n the little Orchis, then spending the effort to cleaning cars(not good at it anyway).

As far as Orchi is concerned, as long as the maid is not rebellious or unkind to the kids, even she makes the effort to try to do the chores at her best, it is a good enough maid to Orchi's family.

On time, Orchi was furious about the maid, when she tried to 'trim' the plants n few pots of bongzai at home, she 'damaged' the plants n the bongzai as well.

Orchi scolded her much, then gotten the scolding instead by wifey, for not appreciating the maid's initiative n the intention to help Orchi with this chore....

Most the times, little Orchis often would yell at her....yet she has been taking it mildly without any urge to rebel or to be angry at the kids....

What pcYeoh said is right, Orchi should phrase Goodness that Orchi has got this maid n the previous good ones too......

Having said that Orchi has gotta get back home....perhaps Orchi might find the much due courage to apologise to her n phrase her too for her good behavior n efforts..

Malaysia to impose regular contacts between maids, agencies to prevent abuse

PUTRAJAYA : The Malaysian government will introduce a mechanism to allow maids to have communication with their employment agencies on a regular basis to prevent them from being abused.

Human Resources Minister Fong Chan Onn said the proposed mechanism would be incorporated as a procedure in the Memorandum of Understanding on foreign maids to be signed by Malaysia and Indonesia for the recruitment of Indonesian maids.

He said the MOU is expected to be signed in three months.

"We have to put in the mechanism for the maids to be allowed at least to have communication with their employment agencies on regular basis," he told reporters after opening a national workshop on capacity-building of the Department of Occupational Health and Safety.

Dr Fong said maid recruitment agencies would be instructed to contact their maids to find out their well-being and how they were coping with their employers.

"Maid recruitment agencies must also fulfil their responsibilities by keeping in touch with their working maids.

Dr Fong was asked to comment on new measures taken by his ministry in the wake of the worst maid abuse case by a housewife who was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court last Saturday with four counts of abusing a 19-year-old Indonesian maid.

Yim Pek Ha, 36, pleaded not guilty to pressing a hot iron onto Nirmala Bonat's body, splashing hot water on her thighs and breaking her nose with a metal mug. - CNA

    the plot thickens...

if the hubby lodged a false police report, then it's an offence & maybe jailed for it. even the police couldn't implicate him in the "torture" of the maid. why then put himself in trouble by lodging a false police report?

unless he's as "mad" as his wife? just my 2 sens...

I find it hard to believe that it was self-inflicted. Looking at the photos, I can't see any human doing that to him/herself unless they wanted to die... not for RM 10k. If I wanted the RM 10k, I'll just grab it and run ...

Well, then again... who knows... I just find it hard to believe....

A person with a "tendency" of spending 67 years behind bars will have to do something. Was this also done by our ex-IGP?

Who knows, this employer may be lucky enough to get all evidence compiled to file a case, and we will see the maid going to a mental rehabilitation instead.

    Wah............. anything can happen meh!!!
