Children and Marriage.

Recently I read that 44% of American woman in the 25 to 44 age bracket are childless This is a record number in American history .American woman prefer to go to college , advance their careers and delay having kids .Adoption or not having kids at all is also becoming increasingly popular.
I think the same trend is taking place here and in some other Asin countries , like Japan and Singapore .The birth rate has decreased ,woman are entering college in droves and marrying later . what about Malaysia????

Venture into the Govt universities and you may think that you have entered a girls' college. Where are the guys? Back in my days, the sex-ratio is more balanced. Does that answer for the Malaysian scenario?

Interesting observation, May may1203. Saw an Utusan M'sia report in theStar that unmarried ppl above 30 has reached 753,815. Other "interesting" facts, according to this report, which was based on the National Census of 2000, are:-

Unmarried above 30yrs old - 463,085 men, 290,730 women.
Unmarried above 40 - 242,907 total.
Unmarried above 70 - 9,461.
Unmarried above 20 - 1,924,287 men, 1,283,249 women.

From a population of 23million, 9.226million (4,601,307 men & 4,624,523 women) were married [cannot be equal as some hv more wives]. Most were aged between 35 & 39.

Ppl who married bet. 10 - 14 yrs old = 10,624.
Married bet. 15 - 19 = 68,442.

Divorced/permanently separated = 31,516 men, 94,004 women.
Widows = 549,745.
Widowers = 129,012.

most number of unmarried man = KL (44.3%), S'gor (41.9%), Johor (40.8%).
most no. of unmarried women = KL (38.1%), S'gor (34.7%), Penang (34.3%).

Go figure...

Hi - There are plenty of men who are married each with 1 legitimate wife. There are plenty of men who are married each with more than 1 wife(non registered ones). There are plenty of married couples(unregistered). There are more divorced men n women. These figures are far from being accurate.

How does the census arrive with these figures? JPN? Inland Revenue?

Like I wrote above, it was based on the National Census of 2000. Maybe it's outdated or ppl didn't tell the truth, esp to a govt agency & to such poll as Durex thingy...
