    Taman Subang Ria invaded!

Taman Subang Ria invaded by commercial operators

SUBANG JAYA, Jan 4: Subang Jaya folks are crying foul! They believe MPSJ has, on the quiet, given the greenlight to a developer to start a paint-ball sports outlet in Taman Subang Ria.

A residents from SS15, known as DaFiSH, wrote to The Star (Jan 4) claiming that MPSJ's approval runs against the stand taken by the municipal council and Subang Jaya state assemblyman who had promised Taman Subang Ria will remain a public recreation park and green lung for the residents.

    Soon... it'll be gone!

"Isnít it proper that MPSJ should seek the views of residents before approving the application by the developer?" DaFish asked. "After all, MPSJ has a channel in the form of the residentís committees to obtain feedback."

He said the lack of transparency goes against the tenets of Local Agenda 21 that advocates development of the municipality through consultation with community and business-based organisations," said the resident.

In 2000, the park has been in the news when residents objected to a veiled attempt to develop the area into a luxury condominium project.

The controversy did not die down until Subang Jaya state assemblyman Lee Hwa Beng declared development of Taman Subang Ria could only happen 'over his dead body'.

Sources told the usjXpress Team that Road Builders group, the concessionnaire for the New Pantai Expressway, is planning for a luxury lakeside living project at the park, called the Boulevard.

    Exclamation Save Taman Subang Ria

    Dear Guys & Gals,

Does anyone has a plan, to save this park? I hope to contribute, if possible.

Me & My wife are very sentimental about this park, where we frequented a lot, especially during mid 90s.

It is where I proposed to my wife to marry me back then.

the kind of "development" i'd like to see in parks....

more trees. more plants. more flowers. more dustbins. more cleaners.

good jogging facilities. roller skating/roller blading facilities.

    ducks in the lake/pond.

    squirrels.

    my favourite parks:

my favourite park in the world? regent's park.

they have a nice spot for theatre and plays.

i remember the park with the big lake in subang had one too, but then it became really run down. drug addicts would go there at night to shoot needles.

    that's sad.

but i wonder how it is now.

    Thumbs down

If it's true that they're developing the park into some theme park style entertainment ground, what can we do as residents to save our one and only *gasp* green lung? I don't want to lose this beautiful lake garden, a perfect jogging trail with plenty of places to .................................

    Save Taman Subang Ria

    Hey Guys & Gals,

Remember the park at Taman Jaya? Thanks to the PJ community efforts & drives to save that park back then, now the park is much prettier & clean.

I recall to have frequented that park in the old days, during most of my courtship with my EXs.

At that time, the park was in a big mess!

So, as it turns out, my previous stint with all them EXs was a mess too, back then!

Therefore, I am really eager to contribute what I can now to save this park at Taman Subang Ria, before it is too late!

    chris.

Taman Jaya.. is it the one next to the A&W near Amcorp Mall? How is the place? Last time i saw they were digging it up for the super duper open house...

Subang Jaya's only lake garden is in Taman Subang Ria. USJ has none. If it's turned into a money making commercial gaming center, I think the spirit of the whole idea is gone down the drain...

    Save the lake!

    Unhappy Save the park

    Dear xweird,

The park in Taman Jaya, opposite the Amcorp Mall is very lovely now.

Those who commute by LRT from Kelana Jaya, should have a great view of the park.

A lot of the PJ folks really went all their way to save this park, and looks like they really got MPPJ working for them.

Question is MPSJ, will they be willing to listen, guess not...

If they were prudent to begin with, they would not have coooperated with a commercial body to kick off the "theme park" proposal.

Unlike Sunway, what we see today, could have been largely developed from private land(ex. quarry) before.

Now, if RB wants to built a "theme park" to compete with Sunway, they could choose some other venue, and not to invade the serenity of Taman Subang Ria, which is public property..no?

I guess, it has got a lot to do with greed....and....?

save the park!!!! as it is, it has fallen into such a state of disrepair... such a pity. i remember once upon a time, it was one of the klang valley's premier parks - long before USJ was ever built. have fond childhood memories of visiting and riding on bumper boats and strolling around a CLEAN and WELL MAINTAINED park.

Come on, MPSJ - are widening roads and changing the design of kerbs all you can do? Can we have our beautiful park back, the way it once was?

oh wait - i suppose i should ask - is the whole park going to be commercialised or is it just a part of it to be turned over to the paintball operator?
