    Massage for back ache

I have this issue with the left side of my back. Pain running from the neck right down to the waist.

I've been to Tung Shin TCM for massage and acupuncture but it is still there

I believe it is due to sciatic nerve and/or muscle

Any recommendations for a place to treat this?

    Thank you in advance.

The sciatic nerve runs from the waist to your foot. You have pain from neck to waist - so it does not involve the sciatic nerve
Go to a spine specialist - you may have a slipped disc in your neck - cervical spondylosis

    My 2 cents opinion.

No mentioned of age and type of injuries.

If it is from Sports, then Admin maybe right.

If due to wear and tear and aging, go to a Radiological Clinic for a CT Lumbosacral Spine and check out your L1 to L5/S1 etc

    Good luck

slipped disc in the lumbar area (waist) would only affect pain at waist level to the leg
However, Jordon's complaint is from the neck downwards - so the source of the problem is from the neck, not the lumbar area

And it is not right to walk in to a radiological clinic to ask for a CT scan. It is better to consult a doctor for a medical opinion. CT scan isn't cheap and so why waste good money going for a CT without a proper examination ?

    I am confused.

Don't you need a Referral Letter from your GP to see a Spine Specialist?

Why 'slipped disc' and not something else like scoliosis?

If it is 'slipped disc', going to a Spine Specialist will cost a bomb when a normal physiotherapist can do the job.

I know because I had 3 slipped discs over the years and all it took was 1 week to 2 weeks to fully recoverered.

Thinking alone your line of reasoning in earlier post, why waste money ?

Normally a Radiological Clinic will ask any patient to bring a Referral Letter from the GP especially here in Perth or else he will not see you.

But I know of a Radiological Clinic in Kota Kinabalu who do not need any referral letter. He will do any tests as long as you can afford to pay for them. As many times as you want. He doesn't care. Apply to West Malaysia too??

You can buy Prescription Drugs straight from many Malaysian Pharmacists without Dr prescription and this is happening in some Hong Kong Medicine Shops too.

Perhaps a visit to a chiropractor may just do the job.
Ages ago I was having this back ache and was visiting hospital for more than half a year for physio treatment . It doesn't get any better and the pain gets unbearable when taking a long distance drive. After half an hour in the drivers seat would render me stuck to the seat for some time before able to get out .
Then one day went to the chiropractor and all it does is give it a little traction , push here and there on the spine .....the pain disappears and can drive for 2+ hours without any problem. It won't be a cure all but who knows this treatment may just fit in.

    Agreed.

I wanted to mention it earlier but decided against but based on my experience only

    Thanks for all the feedback.

I did visit a chiro today. Was asked to do an x-ray for the spine at Sunway before any conclusion/treatment.

So, waiting for the the next visit to the chiro (with the xray) to determine what is actually wrong.

    I appreciate your response.

If you do not mind, please tell how much you have to pay to see a chiropractor including the x ray

Most chiros would not have the xray machine in their premises. So, they will ask you to go elsewhere (I did mine at Sunway Medical for Rm200) to do the xray and bring the film back to them to analyse.

Not too sure how much this chiro gonna charge me but I do understand that most chiros would get clients to sign up for packages (10 sessions or more).

    I'll find out by 2moro....
