A community forum web site is like the universe. Both require inhabitants to populate and justify their existence. The inhabitants are full of colours and spices. Not 2 are the same. If everyone thinks, talks, argues, jokes, pens like me, this will be such a boring place...
Colourful characters like the late Sentinel with his many nicks and even Opulant (with his many nicks too do honestly lend so much joy to this otherwise ghostly site. I aint never got no issues with both of them...That said, I actually enjoy the knowledge, sugar & spices, insults, antics, banterings and batterings too. Plus of course, a number of friends and 'tai ko' cultivated here over the years too.

So if we are all so sugary and nice, where got fun lah? Life is like a living heart beat, it needs the rush, the highs and lows and the occasional missed beats too!
In my books, a virtual insult or a verbal beating is nothing but my fave nursery "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me".

Well he is history now so no need to have a prolong discussion on this but imho agree he did much damage to the forum's participation, .....but let's see if old timers will make a comeback. Hope BSLee will reconsider his option.

I think the 'glorious' days for this forum were during the early 2000s, when there were so many contributors (when Jeff Ooi was around). But with the passage of time, many people moved on, got other things to do etc. I myself first moved into the USJ area in year 2000, then, in my late 30s, now I am in my mid 50s.

Very good, you googled and have taken the world proven reserves and anybody can see that on the internet. As an oil and gas professional, you should know that exploration needs to come before production. So sad you cannot visualize this..

Two things which you are completely wrong.

1. The info are not from internet.
2. Proven reserves are numbers derived from exploration. Hence, your comment of “As an oil and gas professional, you should know that exploration needs to come before production” clearly shown you don’t know anything about this industry.

To help you understand what you don’t know, here is some basic entry level knowledge about hydrocarbon reserve.

a) Hydrocarbon reserve that is underneath the ocean or land must be explore via LWD (logging while drilling). All the money poured in exploration will eventually give a final number, HIIP (hydrocarbon-initially-in place) for further evaluation.

b) With HIIP, extensive commercial viability and technical feasibility will decide whether the reserve falls under the category of recoverable or non-recoverable reserve.

(b) is directly related to crude price and technology. For example, 30 years ago, I was told Malaysia reserve will deplete in 20 years time. Today, oil is still flowing non-stop from the offshore wells. Also, when oil price is good, marginal field and deep sea field which are not economical viable last time will become economically feasible to produce.

Australia has land size bigger than Europe, land that mostly not explored. Her sea territories are equally big, from cocos island in Indian Ocean on her left to Pacific Ocean on the right, South Ocean to the Antarctica. All unexplored. Just the Arckaringa Basin has reserves that equal to the Saudi Arabia. Most of us know Coober Pedy as where Australia is famous for its opals. Nearby is the Arckaringa Basin. This was only discovered recently and this is only land based. If you can visualize, the land and sea territories claimed and controlled by Australia that are unexplored. Of course, I dont think you see that far otherwise you will not disagree with me and call me stupid. Only time will tell. I am not even talking about other minerals and resources. When the oil runs out in Saudi,, in 70 years or so, I hope they better be like Singapore, use their brains and not the emotions..

Russia is twice the size of Australia. Other countries like Canada, PRC and Brazil are also bigger than Australia in term of land size. These countries also have vast land which are unexplored and potentially contain huge hydrocarbon reserve. If I use your skewed reason, I can also deduce that Russia, PRC, Canada and Brazil all are blessed with potential reserve, twice or thrice the size of middle east. But we don’t simply deduce a country’s reserve just because it is a huge country. The reserve numbers must be supported by exploration data.

Your assertion on reserve indicated you are a typical layman who know nothing about what you think you know and yet you talk so loud on this topic. You probably think that no one can refute your assertions. At present, Australia’s reserve is only 1.9% of world proven reserve and I don’t even want to go deeper whether this miserable 1.9% is fully recoverable !!

As I mentioned he is a smart cookie, but unfortunately empty on empathy. What some will say got IQ but no EQ....and sadly I know of a few high flyers who have these sad traits.....talented and makes lots of money but completely at loss socially. Perhaps these type of people, a breed apart believe they actually sit at a much higher pedestal of life, and others are mere "simpletons". There you have it!! .

Come on, are you saying the one eye mod is half blind or completely blind that he allowed members being kicked out !!

Maybe you can suggest to the mod to create a special subforum for the “ultra-fragile-must-handle-with-care" members. These ultra fragile, extremely vulnerable folks who risked being kicked out by other members must be handled with special care. The mod can implement tons of rules and decorum in this special subforum, and people can only talk nice things or nicer things to take care of these special members’ fragile feeling…
