    Now, everyone can go uni

The duration of pre-university program provided by one of the private colleges nearby clearly explain why nowadays - everyone and anyone can study in university !!

    1. AUSMAT (Australian Matriculation)
    Intakes
    -January (Duration: 10 months)
    - March (Duration: 8 months)
    - September (Duration: 14 months)

    2. Cambridge A level
    Intakes
    - January/July (Duration: 18 months)
    - March (Duration: 15 months)
    - September (Duration: 21 months)

    3. Canadian International Matriculation
    Intakes
    - January/July (Duration: 12 months)
    - March/September (Duration: 9 months)

    4. Monash University Foundation Year
    Intakes
    - January/March/July (one year)

    5. Sunway Foundation Year

With the exception of Cambridge A level, I have serious doubt of the academic credentials and the relevance of other pre-U programs to equip students with the necessary foundation. The entry qualifications of the students who enroll into such pre-u program is a big question mark also.

Last time, only STPM / A level (two years in sixth form) is accepted as pre-U qualification. Unless the student is among the top 1% of the best SPM students in this country, he/she may stand a chance to join a fast-track program to cut short the pre-U duration.

U take a stone and throw in Zouk night club or Sky lounge, it will hit a Uni student then bounce to hit a graduate then ricochet to a datu, a dato sri, etc latoship owner...

If I have spare & loose change I will certainly invest in duh education sector... even a commercial pilot is only a not need to pass SPM or a few credits can do, the father just need to have at least shringgit200-300k for fees.

When these graduates started their work as generalists, it is the beginning of their pathetic future...

The 1st few years are still ok because entry level salary is low and about the same across different disciplines...

After 3-5 years, their employability (local or abroad) and salary will start to fall behind.. and their career faith is likely irrevocable...

Only for the rare minority, maybe less than 2%. You must be one of them during your time..

For the rest 98% during your time, they likely can still survive because last time was the go go time in malaysia. Less competition especially foreign competition.

Just curious, if turn back the clock, do you think you can outshine a mainlander with overseas english education when compete for the same job or overseas posting/promotion ? I can't, I'm lucky that I was born in an era with little competition, local and abroad.

It's completely different right now, I strongly believe one must have a specialized skills/knowledge which required entry barrier. Getting a useless general degree won't work like the old days.

The ONLY advantage of Malaysian is the english proficiency but this "advantage" is getting less significant when others who can't handle this language last time can master this language now.

Then I was the exemplary corporate chicken that pecked enuff non stop actually, and got the worm lah. But in my star ascending days, I turned down Shanghai and HKong on account of my $ package being less than an angmo equivalent. The angmo HQ thought they can get a cina pendatang for le$$... Eventually Accepted a nice 2yr in the little Red Dot posting, for a regional post, when they succumbed, agreed and converted my allotted basement parking bay into cash str8 into my big pocket... In all honesty, I think my peers then and now were/are smarter, competitive, tough, whack kenot die and political animal too... Same as today lah. My caveat: One just need to be a crocodile with integrity... A shark with a keen smell for that feed... A squirrel with a penchant to sight and seize the day, I mean nut... U know lah what I mean... 🤣
