DNA tracing your roots origin.

i am trying to trace my roots origin with no leads as late dad leave no clue before he left. Now my children ask me this question ? "why all my friend ask me , your ancestors are ang moh"? I have trace a company base in Malaysia "easydna " but can't give me good answers. Anyone can help? . Actually i am try to trace whether my ancestor got india, melayu, causcusian,mongollian,or Ghengis khan lineage

For a start, I think you must have someone in mind.

For example, that someone who maybe rumoured to be your root.

Surely you are not going to pull everyone from the streets for DNA tests

1) Did your late Dad looks like Caucasian ?

2) Is there a tombstone (traditional Chinese tombstone) for him ?

- if (2) is Yes.. then the ancestral roots (village/clan) will normally emboss on the tombstone.

- if (1) is Yes and (2) is No... then it is difficult for you to trace.

For DNA test, you can explore Thomson Medical Centre in Singapore. They are the leading lab in chromosome and DNA tests in this region. I think they are able to tell whether your are Caucasian or mongoloid from your DNA.

There is a company called 23andMe which can do do a DNA test and trace your ancestry.They will send you a kit where you will provide your saliva and send back to them and they will send back a report.Not cheap though, $USD200.
