I want to brew my own kopitiam coffee, complete with condensed milk and evaporated milk. Where do you suggest I buy such coffee powder? Which brands do you recommend? Thanks!

In Ipoh I see a lot of shops (opposite Yik Foong) selling coffee beans. Here in KL/PJ...no such shops, at least I have not seen them. Odd, this.

How about Hai Peng Kemaman Coffee Powder (Kemaman) or Yee Hoi Coffee Bean (ipoh)?
Actually, I haven't seen these products being sold outside of their "original" place ie. Kemaman & Ipoh.
You can buy Aik Cheong coffee powder in bags. So convenient.
They also have 3-in-one and 2-in-one. Don't buy these.

If you want to brew your own coffee, why not use fresh roasted coffee beans that are readily available in the markets.
All you need is a coffee machine that come with a grinder at the top.
A certain brand of express coffee cum grinder machine costs RM3,800 in KK Sabah but the same machine only cost equivalent of RM1,600 in Perth.
Not surprise... Again, it is demand and supply and compounded by the weak currency exchange.
Grinding and brewing your own coffee from machine is not popular here, compares to western countries. The merchant needs to recover the stock-holding cost by imposing a huge mark-up on selling price as the sales is slow and small.
I recently bought a pair of Columbia winter boots for my kid (400g insulation and negative 32 deg Celsius), the price tag is RM799. Similar winter boots (same brand, same specs) is sold less than USD100 in the country of origin.. !!
