Kelana Jaya Putra LRT Line is lacking proper SOP in Emergency Response.

Err buddies..just to highlight own personal experience which occurred around 21:15pm just a short while ago.

O was waiting in a car to pickup 18 years old youngest little Orchi at the LRT USJ7 station right next to SP Court 2.

At about that time, O noticed the street lights went off n did not realized that the blackout had affected the entire operation of the LRT station there too.

30 minutes passed, O made a call to son only to realized youngest son was actually stuck in the elevator of the station.

Then O reached an emergency phone box located next to the elevator door on ground level to call the station operator for emergency assistance but was told to wait for their engineer to arrive.

O questioned why they had waited more than 30 minutes n did not even inform the emergency response team instead from the nearby Subang Fire rescue department. The operator replied that they were only authorized to call their engineer from the Elevator supplier Schindler to handle such emergency situation.

NOT satisfied with such explanation O made the emergency call to Subang Fire rescue station for assistance n sure enough the Fire rescue truck had arrived about 15 minutes later.

While waiting, O ran up stairs to the station operation room only to find around 5~6 men n women staffs in it sitting around n clearly they could see the inside of the elevator via the CCTV display.

O had approached the counter to query what are the SOP of the station in such an emergency situation, n none of them could give any explanation of the SOP.

Fedup with their lack of cooperation O walked back to see what the Firemen who just arrived at the time could do.

The Firemen used own portable electric genset to operate hydraulic clamps to pry open the elevator door on ground level only to find the elevator passenger case was stucked in between floors.

They then moved upstairs to pry open the elevator door there only to find the elevator case was about 15feet below.

To O's shock, there is no steel escape ladder being fitted within the elevator shaft against the wall within the elevator shaft which is by law must be installed to begin with.

To O's further shock, the Firemen told O that they have no portable ladder suitable to reach the top of the elevator cage.

Around that time about 1 hour later from the 1st report lodged, the technicians from Schindler finally arrived to open up the electric control panel of the elevator system, in order to activate the back up system to lift the elevator cage up to the upper floor. To O's final shock, they could NOT find the right key to open the electric control panel.

Eventually the Firemen had to pry open the panel with crow bars, before the technicians could activate the backup system n moved the cage to let O's son out after more than 1hr n 15minutes gotten stuck in the elevator alone.

Imagine if there was a pregnant lady, younger children or old folks gotten stuck in the similar emergency situation.

Tomorrow O will file an official complaint at the Subang Police Station n get a money hungry shrewd lawyer to sue Prasarana n KTM for 1 million dollars as compensation to the mental anguish n suffering by O.

Damnation! yes Orchi, sue their ass off but i doubt the judge in tis land of endless possibilities allow you for that...Emo stress is difficult to prove a financial lo$$ lah.
Afterall the best defence they have is that they and even your Xdozy pm already mentioned "Malaise proudly have first world faciltities and proudly to claim 3rd world maintenance"...caveat emptor applies kaw kaw.

BTW, side tracked (sic) here. i will certainly get more than a wee bit worried, if stuck in between floors. I have seen videos of panicked people scrambling out between floors and then suddenly, the lift jerked then moved down (or) up and slicing the already 'half' out of lift body into 2 halves...Unless of course, the youtube videos are all fake news lah...scary innit, even if fake news?

Err buddy Tupai..O's long time no see tree dwelling close neighbour. O would let the money hungry lawyer handle the due diligence n all means to win this unprecedented lawsuit against the defendents.

It is not the 1st time that sh*t rains from the corrupted state when big illicit sums of money is involved.

Hmmm..maybe better the lawyer adds another few million dollars more as compensation to take care of all loose ends.

I think the followings can be important if you decide to take legal actions :

    1. Did your son and/or others (if any) inside the elevator manage to alert the operation room staff via the emergency button of the lift ?

    2. Did your son and/or others (if any) inside the elevator manage to talk to the operation room staff via the intercom of the lift ?

    3. Before you reported to the LRT and bomba, did the operation room staff report such emergency incident to the technician/engineer from the elevator company ?

Buddy..yes he did reacted n used the emergency intercom system to inform the operation room.

Besides the blackout had affected all operation at the station, n the staff could infact see the situation via the CCTV display setup in the operation room.

It was uncertain how n when the staff 1st took any means of neccesary actions.

When O asked n demanded to see a copy of the station SOP..none of the staff was able to response to the request but rather told O to exercise patience to wait for the engineers to attend to the emergency situation.

The lack of proper emergency response, SOP, contingency plans n execution of which re sufficient grounds of total irresponsibility n gross negligence.

O has not even mention human compassion n the consideration of which in the times of distress.

Imagine when there was a panicking young children or pregnant woman going into labour at the time stuck in the elevator.

Non compliance of the ISO n safety standards as well as the lack of proper facility n measures such as the missing ladder within the elevator shaft alone
could cost them milions in fines n compensation.

O wants to see the irresponsible directors n management staff guilty of mismanagement be penalized n sentenced to serving jail terms.

This corrupt state barred private businessmen, individuals to travel abroad n even sent some to jail for not paying taxes..while the guilty as hell corrupted ones runs the nation.

Go after those apanama asshxxx glc, I all support.

Just to share, I stuck in an elevator before in last century in a high-rise office tower located at jalan sultan ismail. Stranded inside with roughneck colleagues for about one hour, we pressed the emergency intercom to alert the control room. At that time, no one knew wtf is SOP. The SOP (if it is called as SOP) is press a button and wait for help.

Fast forward now, I was once volunteered in the management of the place I stay. There were incidents where one of the building elevator "free fall" for a distance and missed the designated level. One of the affected residents is a Taiwanese retiree who reside here thru the MM2H program. He complained to the building management in writing and asked for compensation. We passed the ownership of technical responsibility to the lift maintenance company. I don't know what is the exact final outcome but I have seen letters from the lift maintenance company explaining the incidents.

Talking about the corrupt state.... yes, they still owed me a scholarship to MIT/Harvard/Cambridge which they used the money which is rightfully mine based on my academic credentials to send some nuts to Egypt to study fx#@ don't-know-what ...

I was stuck in the lift for 1.5 hours and like most incident, nobody knows what to do except to call the emergency number.

In my case, the emergency contact which was a mobile number of the engineer was placed inside the lift. It never crossed their mind that the engineer could resign from the company. I called the number and he told me he had resigned years ago. I was shocked that the emergency number was not updated and even more shocked when it was not placed anywhere else. By right it should be placed on every floor outside the lift and inside the guard house. There should preferably be 2 numbers - one fixed line and one mobile. And yes, I was stucked in between floors and I had the phobia of being sliced into two when I was made to crawl out.

The duty manager or supervisor should be well trained to handle crisis Management. There should be a well tested SOP.

Whenever you use the lift after office hours especially late in the nights, be weary that should anything untoward happens, brace yourself for a long haul. Pray that your mobile phone battery does not run out and there is phone reception.
