Any Cheaper petrol in Subang Jaya?

Since the launch of the ceiling price of petrol, None of the stations I have visited seem to have a lower price.

Petronas & Shell in SS15, Shell at SS19 all spot the same RM2.13/ lit for Ron95

    You are confused.

Yours is not an open market.

I don't think they have competitive pricing yet
The implementation of competitive pricing should include clear displays of prices at the entrance of the outlet. Makes no sense for the customer to drive into the outlet to check the pricing at the pump.

    Yes, it's a protected/regulated market.

Efforts to deregulate this sector ?? Who want to give away the comfort of protected business..

Having said that, i wouldn't want to be in this business...

This is a regulated industry which means your margin is stagnant. The only way to increase the quantum of earnings from regulated margin is to increase the sales volume and this brings to the next problem.

To have higher fuel sales, it requires bigger station and this means big land costs. Some strategic areas require the station to have fast food outlets and cafè. The investment in land and buildings will take a long payback period.

I was told the net income for one station in good locations like SJ or PJ is around RM20-40k per month. Is this a lucrative income after spending so much money and time ??

In a competitive fuel markets, it is normal to find there is a difference of 15cts per litre between Station 1 km apart.

" The popular MyPetrol app, which listed the prices of fuel from petrol stations around the country, is no longer available for download after only four days on the Google Play Store.

Developer Saw Ting Yik said he had to withdraw the app, which had over 87,000 downloads since its launch on March 27, because he now believes petrol stations will not be allowed to offer discounts on fuel. The app, using crowd-sourced information, created confusion after inaccurate prices were listed, starting rumours of a price war "

Actually how much can you save?

Once, I worked out the saving and I found it's not worth the troubles of driving all the way there.

Maybe these 2 examples I read from this forum can shed some lights. ...

    - Some so-called "middle class" folks here will survey a few shops before buying one light bulb with price savings of 1-2 ringgit. This energy-saving bulb can last at least 3 years !!

    - Some will drive all the way to a petrol station where the 50cents charge of TnG top-up is waived.. !!

    Interesting, isn't it ??
