The morning/afternoon stall. I'm not sure about the night stall. There is a good chance the prices have gone up too although their last price hike wasn't that long ago. Ni*mah.

That is very true and there is nothing you can do about it.

But have you guys told us you were promoted or had salary raised?

Or have you guys told us that you also increased the price of your services? If you haven't done so, then you are not up todate & you are on the losing ends

Increased by RM1?! Bet my bottom RM he did not lower his prices when petrol prices plunged. Speaking of Apollo, the charsiew fella has increased his prices too. Charsiew rice RM7.50. It was increased not too long ago. One more thing.I find the quality of his charsiew less than satisfactory lately. Coupled with the price increase, I now have a good reason to stay away. His charsiew used to be better than Meng Kee's (Glenmarie), in my humble opinion.

Well, I think most of the hawkers like increase in petrol price because they can take the opportunity to increase their price and maintain the new price even when the petrol price reduce.

I rarely patronize hawkers stalls in coffee shop, almost zero now.

The last stall I went is a stall selling hot mee/meehun with Yong Tau Foo, I think this is like 6 or 7 years ago. This stall is in a corner coffee shop located at ss19, same row with Toto (across the road is the Speed99). My kid was a student of Lick Hung at that time, maybe standard 2 or standard 3. I went to this coffee shop for a quick lunch while waiting for the school dismissed at 1.30pm.

The stall was run by an old man and his wife. I think he is probably 5 to 10 years older than me. It can clearly tells that life doesn't treat them well... people at this age normally are retiring at home, play with the grandchildren or just enjoying the carefree retirement life. I always ordered my favorite red chilli YTF, bitter goard YTF and others in a bowl of meehon with boiling soap. The price is around RM7-8 (normal price is RM5.50 at that time but I always ordered extras).

Don't know why.... when I see elderly people working hard to make ends meet, it is kind of sad. I always paid him RM10 at the very last minute before I left with a hand signal that he can keep the change. I know this is no big deal but it is just something I felt compelled to do and I have to do it in a way that it is natural without misunderstanding..

I am not saying hawkers can increase price indiscriminately, they are people who capitalize on opportunities to whack customers... I just want to share what I feel about hawkers who have to struggle to make ends meat, and bear in mind they don't have EPF like the majority of us who browse or post in this forum.

If the extra RM0.50 or RM1 per meal is little impact on you, then wtf... !!

Most times, I view the increase in various prices of foods be it 50cts or $1.00 or more as the signs of the times.

If you look deeply at these hawkers, they are not there to buy multi storey buildings with these slight increases.

They too have families n commitments at home. They also want to survive and to put foods on the tables for their families.

So why are we so heartless?

If you can't pay the extra, please stay afar

A lot of people in Boleh are spoilt by Gov. Subsidies...oh my God, a few important items like fuel, foods, etc are subsidized.

So much so, they think the hawkers are obligated to subsidize their mee hun, currymee. Fried kui tau etc

That is the impression of me as an outsider

Sorry, it's not a nice thing to say but that is the reality

HAHAHAH.>>Actually I was pushing my fave CKT guy to UP his prices from 2 years ago. Ah Peng was undercharging the market rate by 0.50sen for years! I told him, it aint gonna break any customer's bank with the 20, 30, 40 or 50sen up...BUT he then was scared to lose his customers he said...I told him I too am scare of him not making money and bungkus his CKT bizzz...rendering me helpless & vegetative without my fix.
Today he charges 5.00 or was it 5.50? I dont remember...

The 'state of profiteering' is actually more prevalent here...Up north esp in penang, where the 'Gor Looi tua koay gu chia liang' they still charge food around 3.80, 4.70 range and any increase is always in the 10 -20sen range . ..Not the auto 0.50sens like here.
