While driving home I saw one unit of this car on the NPE in SJ. It is blue colour.
The price of the full spec'ed variant has risen by 4k to 114k since its recent launch.
The KIA twin of this car is the Niro. Same car with a different skin and interior. Hyundai own KIA.

This is the KIA Niro Hybrid. A pretty nice looking car.

Just got my Ioniq a week and a half ago. Took it to Penang on the fifth day. Below are the stats.
Out-station (Combined Eco+Sport) = 51.8km/L [self monitored]
In-station (Eco only) = 22.5km/L [on-board computer]
Which spec did you buy?
>> I went for the full specs - RM117K
Quality of the car
>> Excellent handling (with 17" rim - of course lah)
And after sales support
>> Even after delivery the salesman is still in contact with me and updating me on the in-house briefing & presentation of the car. Checking with me if I need him to book service appointments. Still asking me to go for a test drive with their car to find out more about AEB (auto emergency braking) system so that I don't need to test this feature on my car. He is buying me lunch tomorrow
I didn't experience all this when after I took delivery of my Altis. The Toyota salesman just brushed me off and asked me to contact service department on my own.![]()
Yes, out-station is highway.
ok, maybe the way I drive is different, I try not to be aggressive. On the highway, I ease on the pedal when I need to pick up speed and try keeping it at 110 constant with cruise control. When driving around town, I will trigger the EV mode by easing off the pedal. So 50% of the time I am on EV.
With my Altis, I get 14.5km/L on the highway and 12.5km/L around town.
So this is huge savings for me. And the Ioniq will become my workhorse.
How much is full tank?
Hybrid vehicles are still evolving.
Honda has dropped the IMA (integrated Motor Assist). Their new models adopts the Atkinson Cycle hybrid system (like Toyota and Hyundai) but with two electric motors instead of one.
A future fully EV will have one electric motor driving each of the four wheels. Like someone elsewhere commented, this EV thing is a chicken and egg situation. The supporting infra or the sales numbers. Which should come first?![]()

In a country like Japan, which have to import every single drop of oil, hybrid vehicles are popular. The Toyota Prius is the #1 selling hybrid car there.
