    Touch n Go service

Forgot to mention that there is a Touch&Go top up counter at the KLCC station. No service charge. Don't make the mistake of topping up at a convenience stall nearby for they do charge a service fee

If you link your TnG card with your credit card, it will auto top up. You determine by how much. It is so convenient. When you do it over the counter, you need to pay cash.

When you drive into a shopping complex, you must have a minimum cash balance if you intend to pay using your TnG. Though you have to pay additional 10%, I find it very convenient. I have a phobia that whenever I pay cash, I couldn't find my car and I have only 15 minutes to exit. If there is congestion you may not have time to get out.

I've been using the MyRapid Card which I find more convenient topping up at any station Rapid Kiosk. These Rapid kiosk do NOT or cannot be used to top up Touch n Go cards. In this case, Myrapid card is the preferred card for bus and rail.
Its currently cheaper fare on LRT than cash token. Easy to check difference on that android app I suggested not too long ago. Speaking of the app, I did find some fare discrepancies or inaccuracy, example from Taipan to Bukit Bintang (Kelana LRT, changover to KL Monorail. Its about RM1.80 difference more. Why? Check in/out at both stations. Its not check in at start and check out at destination which would easily compute out the exact fare. I'm not sure about other destinations with changeover, could be inaccurate fares on app.

What is the fare from Wawasan to KLCC with the MyRapid Card? With Touch&Go, it is RM3.60 one way. Thanks, dude

MyRapid or TnG card fare is the same. The difference could be the easy top up at any MYRapid kiosk at any station. You can't do this with TnG card.
I do carry each card in my wallet. I would lend the TnG card to friend or whoever that may accompany me on some trip. Then TnG come in handy for other purpose, like carrying a spare, in case Rapid card kaput for no reason.
I use another PlusMiles for Smart Card gadget. That card reside in the gadget permanently, altogether I've 3 cards. One thing good with that smart card gadget, can always check the amount on any TnG card. It will not read the MyRapid card...different system.

Ok, thanks. Then the T&G card should suffice. I hardly take the LRT but when I do, I'll grab my T&G card. Thanks!

Speaking of topping up, someone told me that some Petronas gas stations offer the service without extra charge for the T&G card? True?

One time 50 sen if not mistaken. There's some shops that do not charge anything like Tesco franchise at Taipan. I don't know where else..I'm not going to drive all the way just to find and avoid the surcharge. Say if I'm on some outstation journey, I would go fill petrol and top up the card at the same time, nevermind that 50 sen for now.
I can only question do these middlemen offering the service deserve the surcharge? To me its profiteering.

I don't really go on LRT that often, but do go at least once a month in the past, maybe now I would use the LRT more often, thus the MyRapid card would be my primary card to use. The TnG will have other uses when the need arise. Its too often I observe ques at token kiosk at KL Sentral. I'm happier to use the card, no need to que up and pay more fare.
BTW, your MyKad is with TnG facility..anyone is free to use it and it doesn't expire with non use. Other TnG cards will defunct if non use for a year. The thing is, I don't carry the original MyKad around, I carry a duplicate. YES!..I hear it is alright, but then our land is with controversial, inconsistent and inaccurate hearsay. As always, I use my own judgement to my personal benefit.

If it is 1-2% of the top up value, it is ok. I normally top-up at petrol stations but never bother to check the extra charge.

Convenience comes with a price, this is not profiteering.

Nope..in this case I feel it should be absorbed.
Its worse than banks who charge much less for online IBG transfer.

Why should the middlemen provide the top-up service if there is no money to make ??

Just like the parking fee paid by TnG card. Why should the parking company spend money on the TnG facility and give you the convenience foc ? This convenience is extra 10% of the parking charge. .

Thought I remember the guy at the convenience store in KLCC telling me something like 55 cents or thereabouts per transaction. Since it always pays to have some credit on the card, I topped up RM20 at the KLCC Touch&Go top up counter. It should last me awhile as I hardly take the lrt or use toll roads.

It is not correct that ALL Petronas stations do free topup.
i once asked Petronas at USJ2 (opposite DaMen) and they charge for topup...but they were kind to point me to Petronas USJ-20 which apparently is the ONLY Petronas station in USJ that does it for FREE
