Forced installation of Win 10

HOW can they force it. Killed a perfectly working PC. The when I install a new HDD, the Win 10 installation failed.

Hahahaha, my Desktop worked perfectly before I installed Win 10.

After the installation, money was spent, problems, one after another came up & up.

I had since retired my Desktop & for a few months now.

I am using my laptops only

This time MS is becoming desperate and despicable......

Be warned, after you install this `recommended' update, it seems that you have only 2 choices: Agree with the Windows 10 installation, or if you click on the `X' (normally we think it means `No'), it still means you agree to install Windows 10.

Luckily I recently changed my update settings to not allow any automatic updates and stopped this......

Donno which my good wifey did but it crashed her system. I replaced the HDD and had the Win7 reinstalled. Like FineTuned mention, KB3035583 was updated, the first time, it crashed and gave a funny error message. It took 4 sleepless nights before I got to have Win10 installed in her PC. hopefully I won't have to face what happen to Naka.

Since yesterday, it seems to be working ok.

Another thing I also learn, Dell ATX power unit is not standard. The wires are color coded the same but they are not. Do not plug in an off the shelf unit, you risk blowing up either the ATX , the Mobo or both.

Part of the problem is that MS is now unnecessarily changing `optional' updates into `recommended' updates.

I had a motherboard problem recently running on Windows 7. This appeared to be related to update KB3133977. I can't prove it was the update which caused the problem, but there were quite a lot of reports of people suddenly finding that their Win 7 desktops were refusing to boot up. This affects certain motherboards,and apparently required a bit of tinkering in the UEFI bios settings to get the OS to boot up - not something an average PC user is expected to know how to do. Luckily the hard disk survived, otherwise all my data gone!

I have now disabled all `recommended' and` optional' updates - best to wait a few days to see if there are any unusual bugs reported before I manually allow them to install. Only `important' updates are allowed to proceed automatically.

My desktop is still running on Vista. hahaha. So far so good. I think this is true of everything (generally speaking). If it ain't broke, don't fix it Am not planning to get a new desktop anytime soon. It still has some years left in it, hopefully.

I was an early bird - accepted Win10 and it improved my notebook tremendously. Although there were slight hiccups at the beginning, it is essentially trouble free. For me, it is the best Windows yet - I was a DOS user from 1985 (when IBM PC was introduced), then WinXP and Win7 - various PCs and notebooks and laptops (office equipment)

The issue is not about how good or bad Win 10 is - it is about MS sneakily forcing an `upgrade' even if the pc owner doesn't want it.

Let me tell you my experience - I have a Dell laptop - and late last year I finally gave in to the constant nagging and `agreed' to the upgrade. The installation started, and then a message popped out saying that my machine could not run Win 10 because it lacks a graphics driver for my laptop - what an anti-climax! So fine, I'm perfectly happy not to have to change the OS. But get this - up to today, the update to Win 10 nag still appears. It will probably continue to be there to annoy me the rest of the lifespan of the laptop.
