..Although it could be due to accidental infiltration during surgery but there was no mention of David having undergone surgery...
Just to clarify..
My post (#40) is to share the possible link between a heart complication and bacteria. If I understand correctly from the cardiologist, there is risk of bacteria infiltrated to patient's body during surgery and the fear is when the bacteria “hide” in the heart causing complications. His job is to minimize and eliminate this possibility(bacteria in the heart) before a patient is allowed to discharge from the hospital.
In my layman understanding, apart from surgery, bacteria can enter our body thru various ways. Our body maybe able to handle them when we are fit. What happens when we are tired, lack of rest/sleep, etc ?? The bacteria which are hiding inside the body may win the battle and cause complications. Here is what I found out from the link provided by you :
" How do people contract infective endocarditis? The infection is caused by bacteria introduced into the blood stream, usually through normal activity such as injury to the skin or damage to the lining of the mouth or gums. I.E. can be contracted through everyday activities such as brushing the teeth or even chewing for those who are at risk of developing the condition. These bacteria can lodge on heart valves and cause infection of the endocardium.."
I think this slogan with this title 'Only The Good Die Young' has a very bad taste.
I wonder how his family would take it?
How would this be 'bad taste'? Care to clarify 'your thoughts'?
These words are a common condolence offered as a form of consolation to the loved ones of those who have passed away before their years.
'Generally it means that "Good people are usually selfless and more prone to self-sacrifice. They wouldn't lie and cheat to save their own lives and fortunes; hence, the good are likely to die younger than the ones who run and hide [as in War], take everything for themselves, leave others out in the cold in order to save themselves."
'The 'bad' on the other hand prey on the 'good people' in order to further their (bad) interests.'
In closing, I hope that we need not take this Thread in Memory of David to banter on with the 'silly chatty chatter' that some out here are so fond off. The very thing that David disliked, and choose to leave this Forum after being here for over a decade.
But you are most welcome to offer your thoughts if I have erred
Amongst the many contributions that David shared on this Forum was the his love for songs especially oldies. In fact I believe he was the one who started posting links to songs here and I often contributed to his Threads.
I recall years back when he contacted me wanting to know how to embed those music videos in his posts, instead of just placing links. This was before the new format of this Forum evolved, when it was only possible to embed using code.
In memory of David and his love for oldies, I post a song I recall sharing long back in a music Thread.
We are here to celebrate your life.
And the measure of its worth.
And every single life you touched.
While you were on this earth.
We wish to pay our last respects.
That's why we all are here.
To thank you for your friendship.
And all the memories we hold dear.
Its been a privilege to have known you.
We were family not just friends.
And we will carry you in spirit.
Until we meet up once again.
I remembered the time he congratulated me for starting a thread i no longer recalled because that thread increased the hit count to usj dot com. And that pleased him despite his various trips to Chang's Plantation. It was a frivolous thread and yet it caught his eye.
And i remembered the time he wrote about his passage up or down a rural river, his account of a failed engine, the growing dusk and beady eyes peering at him from the darkness. I thought he wrote well. I still do.
Mostly, i remembered him for his magnanimity towards his fellow usj dot comers. In his various discourses, he is either with you or against you. I kinda stand in between.
i last chatted with David on Tuesday and on Friday he is gone. Snatched by a dreaded sickness he didnt know he has. His organs/kidneys had failed resulting in infections and ensuing heart failure. RIP David.
Thank you PC, you couldnt have penned a better 'eulogy' if there was one. I always counted David as a 'true' friend made thru a mere virtual connection. We first crossed words in this very forum. And continued our jousting and jabbing and bantering and even badgering. We challenged each other to all manner of machismo. From sessions of single malting, to cuban cigaring to street motorcycle racing (i always asked him to go to Sepang for this..), to bestest durianing, to gosh...so many more things that men do...like who can fart the loudest even ! HAHAHAH.
But when situations demand a decorum and presence, we too will dress and play out that at time hoity toity part.
We introduced each other to other buddies from here to Jakarta to Shanghai. And we all got along like a wooden house on fire...
David shared a passion in motorcycling. He had been a virtual 'biker-buddy' for slightly more than a decade. Though we never rode together, he had always wished me well, ride safe kinda thingy and for a few times, even offered to loan me his beloved GW...a long term loan a.k.a. like giving for free! David had been a rare gem of a friend. He is gregarious and generous. Even after moving to Penang, at each Subang Jaya, He will bring a 'buah tangan'...anything from a bottle of 18 yr old single malt to a bottle of Ghee hiang sesame oil to the gee hian biscuits to Cuban cigar... this generous man gave me more than i him... Plus he always believe in me, like me him...
David, If i am presently not so far away ...i would have paid you my last respect in Mt Erskine.
But Bro, may you rest in peace in a heaven driving by 2 wheels.
