Extra water tank

Just wondering, my original water tank is not enough. As with the current El Nino, I am worried that I will be caught without water again. Can I install a water tank in my garden, then Pump it into my existing tank? The mains will then be directly into this new tank?

Will my current float valve in my existing tank work with a pressure from the water pump? or do I need to install an electrical unit?

We consulted two water tank experts recommended by two different hardware shop. The first was a cutthroat who recommended installing the tank in the garden. It only cost an arm and a leg.

The second suggested that we installed the tank on the roof and link it to the indoor tank. Better pressure. Reasonable price.

Can't remember if a second water pump was installed.

And by the way, so sorry, unable to PM you the contact. The installation was done a couple of years ago.

Advice: Check with at least two DIY shops.

A properly installed system with good tank and pump isn't cheap nowadays. It have to be safe, secure and well installed to last its lifetime. Slip shot work is not worth it. Its quite an investment and can run into thousands. Just have to be prepared for price increase of labor and materials in any engineering jobs..Our shringgit is really too small nowadays.

Mine is on the ground level and the water can be pumped up to the the tank above the ceiling when required. It rests on a reinforced concrete base.

The piping from the mains branches off after the filter into two, one into the spare tank and the other one up to the ceiling tank.

Your tank have a footprint. The square RC base can be one foot larger on all the four sides and 4 inches thick. That should be sufficient.
