Lou Hei Yusheng is essentially a salad with all the ingredients selected because of their auspiciousness. So when the revellers toss the lou hei yusheng, they will shout out the auspicious phrases with gusto.

Few things bind family, friends, and communities together like shouting out and showering well wishes and blessings on everyone in unison.

Here are some different styles of preparation of Yee Sang in this Chinese New Year 2016.

Hehehe, with belacan instead of sesame seed [Sesame seeds 大小平安 (dà xiǎo píng ān) Peace and safety for all in your family ], what sort of phrase will you add in?

Will your belacan kills the taste of the other ingredients?

YeeSang was born in Malaysia in the 60s, surely they must have considered belacan.
