Curious. What has transpired since your offer, CCY? Everything is fixed and running at full steam?

I sometimes think a good Radio TV shop can repair this kind of fault or circuit board, its just another circuit less complicated than radio or tv.

It all depends on the mainboard's integration . When the function of those chips is not visible to you and you can't put a mental picture to relate what those chips do in the circuit , it is going to be difficult . You cannot just pop in a new chip that comes with loaded program in it.

There is hope yet for this forum. I mean, your offer to help out a forumer is commendable. The fun (in here) is long gone but at least, a kind act or two pop up now and then which isn't a bad thing at all admittedly, thanks to this place

The alarm in the house can do a few smart things. It can be a smoke alarm too if you link a smoke detector to it. It can be linked to a cctv that you control from your hand phone. You can trigger on or off if you think you see intruders in your house from your office! I saw product in Amazon.com that you can add into your circuit to do all these smart things.

With expert,we used a multi tester and tracked the fault to the external siren. See the benefit of this forum. Otherwise, I will be thinking problem is still at the relay, lol. Went to Jalan Pasar to buy the siren rm15 and had roast duck/pork in Fatt Kei in front of Pudu Plaza. Also bought a switch rm1.60 to switch off external siren when doing internal testing, no need to annoy neighbors. I think the problem will be solved soon. Thinking to be able to trigger untrigger alarm from smartphone. Already can see CCTV from hand phone so if see burglars, just trigger alarm from hand phone. Next possible project. Really learn and did something useful from other experts in this forum.

Nowadays, the trend is for the contractors to hire 'learn in few days' foreign workers.

It's good that we have people like BSLee and Mat Bruce who can DIY.

Siren working, few neighbors came out to check. So it is working. Reason to have a switch to turn off external alarm is not give too many false alarms otherwise nobody will come out to check. Still need to test that my lasers work so will use internal alarm when testing. So far, happy to learn new things from the sifus here. My alarm technician must be wondering why I never call him back.

Outside contractor work, the more the work or highly technical is very expensive now. They all want to profit as much as possible. That's how it is and DIY is the only way to lowest cost...period!
Even the bicycle trotting grass cutter from 2000 miles away can ask RM35 onwards to cut your terrace home lawn and people are still willing to pay, otherwise electric lawn mowers would be selling like hot cakes.
In 15 years I've lived here, never once paid someone else to cut my grass. Its DIY all the way with my Black & Decker electric mower. Its so easy my wife can trim the grass herself with ease without me lifting a finger. We take turns of course.
At the age of 10 I was taught by dad to mow the lawn with an engined mower, the lawn one third the size of football pitch (gomen quarters Jln Duta), no big deal, just sweat it out. Fast forward 50 years, still doing it every 2 months.
