How much is the price and discount for a basic model ? I think of this for my wife too.
There are three variants.
1) XV Premium @ 125.5k
2) XV Sport @ 136k
3) XV STi @ 145k
Discount 5k, 5 year or 100,000 km manufacturer's warranty + 5 years free service (labour & parts). No 3+2 or 2+3 warranty nonsense.
The standard features and accessories for all three variants are the same. Difference in price is due to the additional accessories. Not worth paying so much for add on plastic parts. The STi has a better head unit and orange stitching on the leather seats. The others are all black but who cares.
The XV Premium is what I am buying. Best value for money of the three.
You can get their location from the link I posted.

The usual "Buy now and save" slogan........how true is that?
p/s....if you do not buy, you do not spend and therefore you save....true??
The economy is such that there will always be people who will spend and those who will save. There won't be extremes.
What is true is the rich will become richer. They are those who will spend and will spend more to buy assets during down times. Not paying more for the same thing is already a saving. When the good times return their money multiplies. Money is just a means to an end. How you want to exploit it is up to you.
Caveat: A car is a depreciating asset unless it is a rare vintage which can sell for millions.

Sure you save when you don't buy but you also won't get what you want. Fair exchange is no robbery. You want something you pay for it, even a cup of teh tarik.
Money is there to satisfy your wants and needs. In a way it is no good sitting on it. It can only depreciate. Well, highway tolls just saw a hefty increase, no? Ideally you spend it fast but make it back faster.![]()

Aha, it is because Malaysia had complied with WTO and AFTA in reducing the import duty to what it is today. There was also the National Auto Policy (NAP) before our full compliance.
Of course, to compensate for this lost revenue our Gomen cleverly up the excise duty which is not in those trade agreements. So for several years now new car prices did not increase in price. In fact for some models the price actually come down.
Also not forgetting, for a time the Ringgit was strong at RM3.00 : USD1.00. If not for the increasing of excise duty car prices would be much cheaper.
The proposed price increase is purely due to the current low value of the RM. We just have to pay more for the same things.

Of course any new cars are nice due to good and clean smell, dust free, new tires, new seats .......but after 2 years and travel 60K ,maintenance becomes expensive. A while ago my friend went back to the service center to change 4 new 18 inch tires ......quote RM 22K when outside can do for RM7K.
