According to kampong folks, those foreign naked climbers to Mt Kinabalu from early this week make the Mt. Kinabalu ghosts very angry.

My colleague sent me this link... http://www.met.gov.my/images/pdf/gft...n%20region.pdf

This is an assessment of the seismic threats and the seismotectonic map of Malaysia by the Mineral and Geoscience Department. Can be rather academic and boring but this is factual data for those who want to know.

In the good old days in the early 60s when we climbed Mt Kinabalu, prayers & offerings were given to the gods of Mt Kinabalu before climbing.

But these days, I understand such rituals are all forgotten.

And to add insult to injuries, I think these foreign naked climbers in the mountain earlier in the week were of no help.

Yes, the gods are mad & mad.

Have any of you ever heard of earthquake in Sabah?

    Signs of things to come??

No lah, it is just lack of data to these vast and remote land in Borneo. Read the link I posted earlier, there were earthquakes of similar magnitude reported in 1976 and 1994, maybe less coverage in the media on those days. Overall, we are safe lah especially in peninsula.

p/s : Of course, 70,000 years ago here was not safe due to the eruption of a super volcano nearby !! I guess those folks in the North America would have to start to worry when will the super volcanoes in Yellowstone park erupt. The last time the super eruption was quite near though, about 640,000 years ago... !!
