My guess is "just like petrol prices" its all with political resolve the broadband price matter. I know somewhat that the whole broadbrand infrastructure is like a all different kinds of noodles thrown into one big basin and what is what is rarely known, who owns what, what and what gives..its a maze. For example, Maxis Home Fibre broadband ride on Unifi infrastructure and lines, only to use its own gateway for billing and control. Different ownership of "last mile" lines.
    Mind boggling lah... Blardi messy!..

Lets see what real cost in the near future? 50% reduction in current BB bill?
As said, present RM88 streamyx at 1MB (if anyone is still subscribing) doesn't make economical sense. Extremely low VFM (Value for money)

I just heard from the 7pm news that the 1 MB/sec will be reduced to rm 38 per month.

That's more like it. But the GST is still a pain.

I don't know whether it's limitless or limited to a certain gig.

RM88 reduce to RM38 is ok as that is a rm 50 reduction.

    But

RM199 reduce to rm179 is ridiculous, not much saving. what can you buy with rm 20 nowadays?

They will make it cheap for the basic entry level so that they can boast a "higher" Internet broadband penetration in the statistics.

Is that speed guaranteed or "best effort"?

Best effort. That's no such thing as 'guaranteed'. Even your deposit in banks is not guaranteed.

RM 38 at 1 G maximum. In one month, it's easy to exceed 1 G when watching youtube.

They should increase to 10 G if they are serious.

1 GB is definitely not enough, even for whatsapp

I just calculated. If I surf at speed of 1 Mbps for just 2 hours, it will reach 1 G.

    1 GB = 1000 MB = 1,000,000 KB

    1 Mbps = 125 KB/s

    1 GB divided by 125 KB/s = 8000 sec = 2.2 hours.

    or did I calculate wrongly?

Can we just surf 2 hours in a month?

The 10 Mbps Unify is also ridiculous.

Before 1st apr, it cost rm 200.

    Now, it cost rm 180 + rm 10(GST) = rm 190

So the total savings is only rm 10.

    This is all propaganda

Go make some noise at TM point! I was using 5Mbps and one fine day someone from TM called and offer an upgrade to 10Mbps for life at RM179 so I upgraded with a RM20 discount. If the prices comes down in June, I will probably go to TM Point make some noise if my price don't drop from RM179
