Finally, our broadband rates will come down even when other countries have been enjoying much cheaper rates than Msia for many years.

Subscribers have been "whacked" for years when other competition at other countries seem much cheaper and more VFM.
Typical how people suffer for years here under monopoly and exploitation of the services.
When there's very little % discount, all seem to shout for joy and MSM will capitalize the news like we're all beggars! I'm not happy with 2%, 5%, 10% discounts.. Give minimum 30% off lah!.. Berani?
P.S. OTH, detractors will easily say "Be Thankful lah..better than nothing!"..I shake head...sorry!
I know some "penny wise pound foolish" people. Still wanna subscribe to Streamyx at 1mb rather than Unifi or other similar service.
They think streamyx is RM88 value..period. Wise people know its so different and no more a cost effective long term solution. What to do?..I avoid encouraging or discuss about this subject to stubborn people.
I actually did not plan to have internet service at home..
I wanted to subscribe to astro beyond but our centralized disc is the old SD version, and we are not allowed to installed individual disc. Cost to redo the centralized disc to HD is too high as many risers need to be changed/upgraded at every level, etc.
So, the building management get TIME to connect fibre optic to the building. Problem is, the astro beyond beamed by TIME fiber optic come with a standard internet package !!
Seriously, I still do not know what is the speed of my internet access and don't bother to know. I only know it is unlimited usage and with live HD sport, news and discovery channels, I am ok to pay RM189 per month.
Malaysia is ranked at 126 in internet speed

use http://www.speedtest.net/ to test your internet speed
Guess which country is the highest ranked, our neighbour down south.
Our neighbour up north is ranked 53
Even China is ranked 44 while Msia is still running at turtle speed with expensive price per MB.
[QUOTE=Greenwich;591376]I actually did not plan to have internet service at home..
I do not have Astro at home.but the UNifi package RM210 with 10m and numerous TV chanels suits me includes 10 chinese ,1 natgeo,Travel,Warner,Syfy RTLS,Chanel news Asia ,Al jazerra, some cooking programes etc...sports have to pay extra.
Live sport is the most expensive. Here is the breakdown shown on the bill
IPTV HD+PVR : RM88
(PVR is a fantastic feature. I can record different channels at the same time. This is great when I wanna watch live F1 on Sunday but there are other live EPL games on other channels)
Family+2Mini+Sport : RM98
(The sport channels is RM60 from the total of RM98.. !!)
Look folks!..IMHO, that monopolized subscription is NEVER CHEAP! Of course it depend on your individual desire and enjoyment level. Some people think cheapest package suffice..so cheap lor. Another group claim must take 2-3 packages then better enjoyment but at RM120/month..then its great package..fun, enjoy!, another group say ultimate full packages are most prudent..nevermind!..can PAY!
So how?.. different people different mindset.. We can debate till the cows come home.
Look! apparently free to air channels are pathetic. Tainted with news related to politics, propaganda, moral preaching, etc etc..Every blardi day is with news of happenings of local politics, don't matter which side of the camp. Maybe the only country with such content. MELUAT SAYA! Maybe its improved with other channels from long ago, its anyone's conclusion, but I feel your regime will NOT provide more than what is now offered for free to air. Even digital transmission rollout is taking ages to take effect. Like one hot shot politician declared.. YOU WANT?? PAY LAH! I'll never forget him for such a condescending remark to all rakyat!
The industry is heavily protected and seems to be for generations to come. Its an offence to install your own satellite gear (internet sources ok, but not optimum picture quality and depend on broadband speed), maybe they sight as you receive porn, immoral content, all sorts. Its heavily regulated and protected. Best interest of the rakyat?..surely not! PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID lah! You want your kids to watch pornography and lewd content?..Parents know better lah!
Yes, broadband is expensive and slow in Malaysia....very sad for you guys
We have been screwed for too long. A 50% reduction is long overdue.![]()
